In fact, the DK1 Type C version is designed for M15, cause M15 need a lots of power from the USB port in you PC but some old PCs will limite the output current less than 500mA , so it make the M15 has to consume build in battery even it connect to your PC, the resuld is the battery will run out after maybe 15 or 20 hours.
with the DK1 TC, you can connect an extra power to make sure M15 can get enough power supply, for example, a 5V/2A will be a very good option for M15 when it works as
I'm not currently a DAP user as for portable use I go Bluetooth, and at home I have what I need, but I am really getting close to wanting to try a DAP and for certain I will go FiiO when I do. By then it may be a new model, but as it stands now the M15 does seem to be a fabulous choice.

This is an interesting statement. Is there anyway to tell what the current limit is on the usb ports on PCs? Also, can type-C connections on PCs generally push out more current than 500mA?
Today I was told by a well known audio store that the M15 and SP2000 sound almost the same, but the M15 has a more powerful amplification. So, 1500€ vs 3500€ sounds like a great deal to me.

The sound is a little different to my ears. SP2K is more refined and open sounding, also has some of the best textured bass I have heard. M15 is a little more warm/mid oriented to me. In terms of value though it’s definitely in favor of the M15.

wm1z was my first totl dap but didn't enjoy too much as it had rather bloated bass with lack in details as compared to other totl dap.
I thought sp1000 was awesome right after having wmi1z. I really want to test out m15 but looks like it's sold out in US now.
That's what I thought too, but since the amplifier is the most important for sound quality and they're not the same, I was really curious about this. Since I have a close relationship with this company (10 years or so), I've just asked. And got what it seemed to be an honest opinion, especially coming from my friend John.
