The last firmware has improved a few things.
What do you think still needs to be improved? (probably these comments will be relevant for the new version with ESS chips too).
1.Global EQ (it will be useful for some Tidal's albums)
2.After rotating the DAP and screen (connectors up) , the volume direction on touch-pad does not rotate and it works the other way around ¿
3. Visible sampling on screen lock
4. Dolby Atmos - technically possible to add?
5 ..........
If I omitted something from the previous comments, please add below .........
‘for me’, NONE of these...
whilst I ‘liked’ the first comment drawing awareness to the lack of inverted volume controls when the screen is flipped -having used my unit
exclusively in ‘flipped screen mode’ (tbf; mostly as a transport, not needing the volume slider at all) for the last few of weeks, I feel this isn’t a ‘biggie’ (big demand/want).
I feel human learning assigns ‘volume down’ as the button closer to the middle of the unit, with ‘volume up’ closer to the outer edge... when we work this way, the rotation isnt a factor, and I was never concerned for ‘which button was which’.
In settings, a menu option to flip volume buttons AND another tickbox to ‘only do so when screen inverted’, would be ‘
super easy to add’, and shouldn’t be hard to implement.
True, I’m not really an EQ person, and I do have ‘HF Player‘ (android media playback software with ‘quite a few’ advanced functions) that brought incredible EQ to market (one of their strongest sales ‘bullet points’ for using said software) and I have never used it once...
Of course
many users will demand ‘good EQ’, and so this is a large point of contention.
achieving ‘flatline sound’ can be essential, so this means much to our hobby..
I do understand the benefit of FiiO implementing these things, for us, as we get to use them in ‘pure music mode’ and ‘global EQ’, perhaps difficult in an MQA world (don’t know/don’t care), would be handy... for me the ‘global DSD convert’
IS a feature than needs attending, presently.....;
My number one thing for FiiO, right now, would be the DSD ‘on the fly’ conversion...
It is an advertised aspect of these players, and the implementation needs a little more love..
whether the system needs a ’bridge’ to let USB digital output to ‘mirror’ via COAX output, (and/or ‘vice versa’/the ‘other way around’, with COAX output ‘mirrorable’ via USB) or ‘more effort into’ the present setup (for
on the fly DSD convert), something may need be done...
..
The only reason I had to put my M11+ ‘on the net’ was to use playstore and get my licensed ‘HF player’ software on the unit.
It seemed the FiiO DSD convert only worked via COAX, where as the HF player DSD convert only outputs via USB (both also work via analogue outputs, but the usefulness for such a feature is MAGIC for ‘outboard DACs), and given I purchased the M11+ due to the dual femtosecond clocks/pcb design and chip layout (including shielding and power isolations), the notion of having the M11+ be a ‘you beaut’ (aussie slang meaning ‘brilliant/excellent//beautiful’ et al) transport, isn’t happening at present.... (for when the outboard DAC is better served a DSD format)
bump: anyone getting fiio dsd convert working on latest firmware? (via coax?)
My player, prior to going to the google store/ installing the fiio app for apple music, ran well... afterwards, ‘not so much’.
I nearly bought another m11+ to get an ‘untouched’ (by the authorities) version of the ‘out of box’ software state.
Most important feature to implement, for many, will simply be ‘UAC1 mode support’ OR playstation/switch console support.. (please, I will call out ‘FiiO’ during peak experiences in my life*, if just such an event were to occur.. (*not really))
