Good news here, when the monitors turn off, the USB ports on the monitors go to sleep mode after a period of time and stop sending power, therefore, the KA17 also turns off. I just tried it.I use it with an always plugged-in Win 10 laptop, and it turns off immediately once the PC is shut down or sleeping and the power is cut at the power strip).
However, this only works with USB-A; despite my best efforts, the USB-C connection keeps it, and other dongles too, awake constantly.
As a side note, enabling USB Selective suspend setting might also help.
