USB cables are gonna make zero difference as long as they work and don't have disconnect issues, folks.

Anything saying more premium USB cables "sound better" is pure snake oil, folks. We're talking about digital signal here. This isn't even like talking about headphone cables which at least is an analog signal that can actually be affected in some way (in some circumstances) by the quality of the cable.

For digital, the cable either works and is compliant with relevant protocols or it's not. That's it. That's the whole story.

There's zero quality difference between a $200 gold plated HDMI cable and a $10 one as long as they're both compliant with HDCP protocol and using the same HDMI standard.

Same with USB.
not only digital cables. there is no measurable or listenable difference between any cable as long as they have the same impedance and resistance. I know the cable believers will get angry but noone ever proofed it in a blind test and never will. its all psychoaccoustics as it is for most dacs etc. now roast me

I don’t think anyone was making any assertion other than the stock KA17 cable has poor reliability.

I noticed with the original cable that the sound will randomly stop, especially when I move the dongle a little bit. The trick with reverse cable swapping works, but temporary, so I decided to upgrade the cable.
Today I received DD ddHiFi TC05 Type C to Type C Data Cable to try it with my KA17 and I'm very happy to report no more disconnection or sound stopping. The original cable is not very good unfortunately. @FiiO please make better cables for your future dongles. I mean you guys put high quality silver plated cables on your iems but your dongles get the short end of the stick...
Back to the TC05, no sound improvements over the original cable if anyone is interested. A/B tests they sound the same to me, but that's my opinion. Reviews from my local store are saying that there is better sound with this cable, but I can't notice anything different over the original. All in all I recommend this cable with the KA17. If you guys have the cash to spare you could try the TC09S cable that is better quality although at a higher price. For now I'm happy with TC05.
Dear friend,

Hi, would you mind sharging more information about this problem with us?
1. Does the issue happen while connecting to the mobile phone?
2. Is there a drastic movement that caused the disconnection. Like shaking?

Best regards

@FiiO
1. Yes
2. Yes, but even a tiny movement, for example while scrolling to my phone connected to KA17, I have to stay still with my phone in my hand not make sudden movements with it or to move the KA17, otherwise the music stops playing. I tried with the KA5 cable which is basically the same cable as KA17 and same thing happens. With TC05 cable I tried shaking as hard as could, move the phone all over the place and no disconnection. In a way I'm actually happy that is a cable problem and not the device itself. It's way cheaper to change the cable than to get another KA17.

Dear friend,

Hi, thanks for the kind feedback. We have reported to the project manager to have a check about this first.

Best regards

I have the same issue with the same cables. I also have cables from KA5 and KA17. Touching or moving the KA5 or KA17 cable during playback from the KA17 will cause failure. I have a LT-LT4 cable and that one has no issues when using with KA17.

I just got the KA17 and I am having problems using the PEQ.

Opening the FIOO Control app and connecting to the KA17 it asks me to "please open EQ in setting menu of device". However when I change from the "off" setting for the EQ in the device I get disconnected, and I am not able to reconnect with the device in the app unless the EQ is set to "off". I have software version 0.99. running android 14 on a Samsung phone.

Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry if this has been asked of before.

I have KA17 with original cable. I can confirm the problem with the cable.
Sometimes just the slightest movement is enough and everything goes out.
New cables are on the way, but the problem seems to be the original cable.
Dear friends,

Would you mind informing us the model names of your mobile phones? Thanks in advance!

Best regards

@FiiO are there plans to make the eq modifiable on windows or any os other than android?
Dear friend,

Hi, you mean EQ or PEQ? The EQ could be adjusted via the menu of the KA17.

Best regards

Dear friend,

Turn EQ on/off, the device will be re-recognized and the phone playback theory will be paused.
Then you could select the KA17 in the FIIO Control app to enter EQ page again? If it fails to work still, please contact support@fiio.com for help. A small video may help us to understand the phenomenon better.
Thanks in advance!

Of course.

Samsung S24 Ultra, SM-S928B/DS

Another cable is on the way for test. Very little movement and PUM! disconnection of all.

(about EQ i remember with V0.84 is possible change the EQ from the phone but always an issue, with V0.99 is impossible change the EQ but i think is your decision)

Hi, sorry I did mean peq. From what I have seen in reviews the peq can only be customized in an android device to be saved as presets, which can then be chosen from the ka17, but I don’t have any android device to work with
