I wouldnt say its a dealbreaker but it was immediately noticeable when I plugged it in. I really like the color of the Red K7 but I will probably keep the Black one simply because it doesn't have any delay.
So the black has no delay at all, I thought they all had some form of delay. I wonder if they are on different firmware versions by any chance did you try updating them it is possible the red one shipped with a different firmware version. You can check the FW version without going through the install: https://www.fiio.com/newsinfo/779363.html

My understanding is that the updated firmware does nothing except turn off the RGB, which is the one at your link.

Dear friend,

You may check the firmware version of the red and black K7 first via the FiiO Control Panel? The color of K7 will not affect the volume control.

(I don't have a K7 so I show you the firmware checking picture for Q7)

Best regards

Hi,

Here are screenshots from both my units. Black unit shows v1.24 while Red unit (with the delay) shows v1.22. Both units have RGB lighting enabled by default and I have NOT upgraded the firmware on either of the devices. Hopefully you can help me figure this out.

Upgraded the red one and it did nothing except turn the RGB off.

I am curious about and @FiiO can probably help here, how does the black K7 have RGB while being on V1.24? The 1.24 on your website is to only turn off the RGB lighting and nothing else.
Dear friend,

Hi, I checked with the engineer and he told me that the MCU firmware of your black K7 needed to be updated for improving the phenomenon you reported. And you would need to disassemble the K7 for updating. If you would prefer, you could contact support@fiio.com and we could send a update tool to you for help.

Best regards

Just took a photo of the DAC failure. It disappeared after turning off. No problems with my FiiO k7 after a year of use. Just a lot of pleasure from the sound

when turning on and play music, it makes a clicking sound and takes a moment to (the first moment of music under 1 secondis mute) play. I've been researching this topic for days, but I haven't learned anything.
Video of the problem I'm having, start the video at 8 seconds ;
Is it normal or would it be a defect?

Dear friend,

Hi, it takes time for Bluetooth to initialize when it is switched on. It is recommended to wait until the RGB indicator finishing scrolling before switching to other modes after switching to Bluetooth. So that the normal operation of the program will not be interrupted and the problem will not occur. If you encounter this problem, you can restart the K7 BT once for help. This phenomenon does not affect the normal performance of the K7 BT, so you do not need to worry about that.

Best regards

Dear friend,

Hi, it's normal to have a clicking sound on first playback since the K7 has internal relays.

Best regards
