FiiO Hybrid IEMs Discussion & Impressions Thread

So,

Another little tweak for the Fh9's and as far as I'm concerned the very last one (because after that I don't see what to do more :dt880smile: ):

You take your small nozzle filter (green, red, etc.), you unscrew them...

... you remove the small colored rubber washer (so green, red... depending on what you use)...

...and you screw in place these newly "anonimized filters" :) and put back in place your usual tips.

Enjoy* :beerchug:

* You had to think about it and I'll let you discover by yourselves what it does (it's (not so) subtle but...) :grinning:

**Otherwise for my part, with the Eros S cable, cat's paw tips and 250 over-filtering, Dap M1s, fast filter ; green filtrers to "mystery filters" :sleepy:. For other associations, I have no comment.***:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

***I have tried the "no filter at all option" : it just doesn't work. Lack of density, two dimensional restitution.
To be more specific 😉

Enjoy yourselves ✌️😎✊

My Eros S cable just arrived, I was a bit dubious, so many people say it's snakeoil but I can hear a big improvement, better resolution, better vocals, no sibilance at all, smoother, probably a bit less bass but with a nice kick, and a much nicer match imo. I'm at work tomorrow so will take the new set up and give it a good test for 7-8 hrs.

I'm just waiting for the mesh to arrive from China, hopefully next week, then it's put them on, soak in ink and swap over to green nozzles, for now I'm enjoying the black balanced :)

I can't see any reason to buy "upgrades", taking a chance when this sounds so good.

I'll put the FH9 cable on my FH3's see how they sound.

Well... difficult to say I think IF we consider :

fx15 vs fh9 "supercharged" :o2smile:

2 years, and more and more I am still very impressed by these FH9. They scale... hum... violently.

Hi my friend,

Franckly, the FH9 can really to be at the best TOTL level :

1/ you can tweak the vents (shell : overfiltering). Value 250, 3mm : here for instance : https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005004052480882.html?af=171752&afref=https://www.comparedaddy.com/search?q=golo.com&source=1451866&zid=3w9YSu8erqsPd9&cv=12&dp=12::171752::1c0248dkk1e7::::1699006466&cn=15643&aff_fcid=8275acc84ea64468ad6933bd659bd5da-1699006467042-07743-Y7bAZbY&aff_fsk=Y7bAZbY&aff_platform=aaf&sk=Y7bAZbY&aff_trace_key=8275acc84ea64468ad6933bd659bd5da-1699006467042-07743-Y7bAZbY&terminal_id=a4baf7b1327f4bb0b62b495ee83360e4&afSmartRedirect=y

2/ For the aforementioned filters, impregnate the membrane with an indelible marker (black because it's prettier). This stiffens the membrane. Even best bass quality.

3/ For the canula, green filters

4/ For the cable, try absolutely the Ares S 8 wires or best, the Eros S (Effect Audio). It's just ridiculously incredible, sound wise (ergonomics remains very good, as the stock cable). Really. Must try. I insiste.

5/ With your DAP, if you can set the digital filters, try the "minimum phase" filter = a little "analogue" touch. The fh9's love that move very much !!!

6/ About the tips : https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/CWU-GECL-Eartips-Isolating-Prevent-Enhanced/dp/B0991RL358?th=1. These are the perfect tips for me : everything. Problem solved for years, from now on. And every pair is long-lasting (Nothing in common with the Xelastec for instance). But... you need to fit them...

So it is far less pricey than an another pair of iems, and really... you have already a TOTL level product in your hands.

I can say that because I have compared these "FH9 Dsw tuned" with quite a list of said "TOTL".... (Kr5, XE6, Infinity mk2, A8000, Z1r, Zombie Max, Erlkonig, Phoenix, VE7, etc... to name a few).

All these products are good to very good... but not a problem at all for the "FH9 Dsw tuned"... :beerchug:

Well, I haven't listened them yet, but the Sound rhyme DTE900 seem to be incredibly good... Or the Monarch mk (2... 3 : same).

Hum... :beerchug:

Sound rhyme DTE900 = very (very !) vivid, but a lack of general coherency between the driver's signatures for me. Agressive pinnea gain. Switches ??? So to take with a pinch of salt.
Monarch mk2 = good but I wasn't impressed as well : too "safe" for me, and I find the bass and low medium "heavy", not really "fat" but "heavy". Lack of agility.

It's not a hybrid, but I'm about to see how Fiio's new King compares (just came in). :beerchug: Beautiful shells! My photo does it no justice!

Just real quick, the FA19 has a uniquely fuller overall sound in the bass and the mids than in the FH9. There is no placebo effect, it's an obvious upgrade. And while there is always certain undeniable warmth to dynamic drivers for bass and sub bass, the four "vented" BA drivers used for bass per channel in each in-ear monitor come eerily close! The timbre, as a whole, is leaning toward warm but make no mistake, this is a very detailed nuanced earphone. FYI: I purchased this on my own with no discount of incentives. These are strictly my very initial impressions. I am unsure if I like these earphones over my Thieaudio Monarch MKIII yet, but they sound different. And I still enjoy the sound of the FH9, and a few others that I will mention later, but I see this one becoming a top favorite.

FH9 fully DSW modded with green nozzles, don't want to risk taking the green rings off, I'll probably break something........wow, absolutely superb sounding iem, not that it wasn't before but definitely clearer, brighter and with more resolution and staging. Tips are penon orange liquer, my favourites.

No problem about the green rings off my friend, believe me 😇

And big (I mean BIG) surprise.......... 🤯😁😎

Seriously, easy move 👌
