FIIO Flagship all-in-one digital media streamer R9 Discussion & Impressions Thread

oh yes, that's true. thanks for that pointing out. but as my use case is desktop (similar to how i use CA1000) and i sit very close to the R9, i don't use roon remote to control it (or using roon to play my streaming content either). maybe my use case is not so common :relaxed:
I agree with you about the lack of control buttons, their absence creates some inconvenience if you listen to the R9 via UAPP.

i much more prefer the black colorway available in the R7. the white and chrome side panel of the R9 look very odd and untasteful to me. ... i'm not sure as one of the biggest personal audio brand in china, why they couldn't afford to get some talented designer just to make a product that actually looks good. their biggest shortcoming is the industrial design. i dare to say it is amongst the worst tier in the industry and it's a real shame.
I found the design of the R9 more attractive than that of the R7

i just took out the included remote rm3 and spent a few minutes wondering why it didn't work. a few minutes more on googling than i learnt how to pair them and the remote works fine now and addresses most of my concern. but still hardware buttons on the unit will be more convenient to me (than reaching out to the remote) :relaxed:

:relaxed: on closer look , the R9 is actually silverish (maybe anodized aluminum in their natural color i guess?), this looks much better than coated white color for me. i still prefer matt surface rather than the shinny "liquid metal" surface though

I like this combined color and design - silver + dark polished metal, because of this it seems that the R9 is not so bulky and wide.
In fact, this polished metal turned out to be not as easily soiled as some said.

PS. I understood why dark polished metal is not so easily stained by fingers, because a protective glass is glued to this metal, like on a player screen :)

I copied FLAC files to the internal storage of the machine. And the problem still occurs.
Dear friend,

If you don't mind, you could share the music files to us for check.

Dear friend,

We have reported to the engineer for checking about that first.

Hey guys, I have just gotten the Fiio R9 and I heard a clicking sound internally from what I'm assuming just by opening Fiio Roon or when I start playing music. For more information, I always turn the volume to 0 after I am done listening and increase the volume when starting to listen to music. I use Sennheiser HD 660S2 on the Fiio R9 and I'm wondering if this is normal or anyone has experienced this too? I'm just worried for the Fiio R9.

Also, why does the Sennheiser HD 660S2 sound different or not as impressive compared to when I plug the headphones into my laptop? is it because the Fiio R9 doesn't provide enough power (impedance or ohms) to the headphones so it limits the headphone's full potential? I also use ultra gain for the headphones when listening and I'm not sure if that helps with the power issue. Thank you guys for your help and explanation. Much Appreciated.

same for me. i thought it's the protection relay kicking in when the output stage starts/stops.

It is the same whether streaming or files off of storage device. Please check the song Porcupine Tree - Rats Return on any streaming service (Apple Music, Tidal or Qobuz). It would be difficult for me to upload a copyrighted song which is very large in size.
