Yes and no.
The PL50 can deliver 2 amps at 15 volts. The R9 requires 3 amps. It will work until you turn it up to the point where it needs more than 2 amps then it will shut down.

I am using an R7 as a streamer, feeding an SMSL D400EX DAC and a Burson Soloist 3XP amplifier.
Any ideas how the R9 would compare to the SMSL / Burson combo I am currently using?

Dear friend,

Yes, and you would need to select 15V level in the PL50 when connecting to R9.
The R9 is designed with 15W reserved output for powering the two USB ports.
So generally, PL50's 30W is completely enough for the R9.

When I look at the Audio settings in Roon the Device info shows FiiO R7 rather than FiiO R9. Is this just a naming error by either FiiO or Roon, or is the R9 still awaiting "Roon Ready" status from Roon?
