FIIO first cassette player CP13 is officially released!

I have collected MANY bespoke vintage blank cassettes and have a restored Revox B215 deck on the way.

I am ready.

I too have a few blanks but more pre-recorded tapes. I also have two Tandberg decks (the TCD-320; one complete and the other still needs to be put back together after lubricant additions, unable to complete that). The Fiio is a good idea, and even better if I could connect to my computer for digitizing my cassette tapes...

Easy enough if your computer has an audio in jack. Us the computer's sound card to perform the A-D conversion using Audacity.

I received mine. It's a brick. Old school mechanical controls which are more reliable and gives one the impression it is well built. My stack of broken walkmans don't hold a candle to this build. Playback is clear with compelling audio. Lack of Dolby decoding is not a problem a sure sign of a good head and playback amp circuit. The highs are accurately listenable. The playback head and the opamp don't over-emphasize hiss on their own. Less sensitive IEMs work best and the opamp drives them with gusto without noise in between tracks.

I just listened to a tape I made on my Revox B215. Musical as it was the day I made it. I have a tube based studio recording chain which I use(d) to slightly compress, EQ and enhance recordings to better suit the s/n ratio of tape, particularly on the road and walkmans. I have to say it knocked me right out of my chair.

Now I can listen to all my mix tapes and stroll down memory lane as well as make new ones. I always used BASF, Maxell, Denon and Sony tapes all the top of the line. I was a cassette fanatic and would always buy them by the case. I have cases of them still in shrink wrap and now can make more through my studio recording chain. It has been just sitting there because the whole idea back then was to make mix tapes for out n' about use. Now I can again.

Very Righteous....Thank you, FIIO, indeed...

That machine will need a USB-Audio converter as the audio on that is out only. Something like these: http://tinyurl.com/3phcjan7
Thx! I didn't know that was possible. Just hook the cassette player up to the computer via the cable you sent and go from there? I've ordered the cable, alI I need now is the cassette player...🤠. I'll be ready for the next batch...

Yes, and Audacity software to capture the digitized audio and cut it into individual tracks.

Hi,Friend

Thank you for recognizing CP13!

I would like to make it clear that the CP13 is not very perfect if you stand in the Hi-End audiophile's point of view.
Of course, the main reason is not that we don't want to do a good job with it, but the core components of the machine are not very good anymore.
I'm sure you know that with our FIIO's strength, it's basic to make any audio product well when the supply of parts is sufficient.

The CP13 is an entry level cassette player, he is not made specifically for Hi-End audiophiles,
if enough people like the CP13 then we will work harder to make a better product out of it.

Thanks again~

Hi, Friend

Thank you very much for your link.

Is this a video you made? Including the previous video, which I thought was very good and worth a serious look..

The azimuth and the speed, we actually adjusted them at the factory, but I don't know what the reason is, there is some deviation when it comes to everyone's hands,
We will find out the really reason.

I obviously haven't kept up with the news of this release. From the thumbnail of the video which I just had recommended on youtube today as I watch this channel, i first had to look it up as I honestly just thought it was going to be by pure coincidence that a brand that happened to be called FiiO made this decades ago.

My honest opinion honestly is that it is somewhat pointless to make devices like this other than nostalgia. If you want a good quality sound, this will basically be a massive step back on FiiO's first DAP which I still have and use daily. The video obviously shows a few flaws with it too.

Please keep us up to date on the reason… Interested in such product but not varying playback speed slow or fast.

Hi, no, I didn't make the videos. They were made by an individual called VWestlife (https://www.youtube.com/@vwestlife), a well regarded content creator on YT who makes many videos on cassette decks, turntables, and various other tech.

Any news about specific colours like transparent one?

And will be there provided any disassemble instructions for service?
(Btw, qr code from manual doesn't bring to the cp13 page but some other)
Yes, we will do some videos on debugging and some simple repairs.

But since the vacation has just ended on our side and we have more things to deal with, these videos have not been started yet, I am very sorry!
