Rich - they are not treble heavy - but they are mid-range forward (hence my suggested EQ drop that some people are using). The actual lower treble (6kHz up) is pretty nicely balanced.

Good cable, I bet it is more expensive than FH5.

Oh boy, I just priced one out. Indeed.
@JamesFiiO Replacing the tips on my Fiio, and I notice one of the earbuds doesn't have a screen. I bought from Amazon, FYI. Just a heads up. I'll return these for a new set.

For what it's worth they sound much better without it anyways@JamesFiiO Replacing the tips on my Fiio, and I notice one of the earbuds doesn't have a screen. I bought from Amazon, FYI. Just a heads up. I'll return these for a new set.

I watched the @Hawaiibadboy review as well, and would be okay if they had both and I chose to remove them, rather than one just missing out of the box.

I went through several cables before this one. One of them was the Fiio cable pictured in the background of my post, and the stock cable. PlusSound builds an excellent product.

No, I understand. It's better to have them and not need them. It may have fallen off somewhere in the box. The glue they use is very little so it may just have fallen off during shipping.I watched the @Hawaiibadboy review as well, and would be okay if they had both and I chose to remove them, rather than one just missing out of the box.
Gave the FH5 a spin to see whats the fuss about. As mentioned, rather mid forward. Warmer sound in terms of tonality. Does lack some stage depth and extension down the bass.
They have that stage monitor sound. Vocal forward with bass boost. But of course you dont wear a DD as stage monitors.
Overall I think they are pretty ok. They do little wrong...but nothing fantastic either. In terms of technicalities I find that they are a notch below MD+. They seem to have this problem that the body of the note is too thick compared to the transient. It tries to be thick but really isnt. I threw on some modded final tips and they seemed to scale down the issue a little.

How does the technicality compare to the Final E5000? I like balance of the E5000 with the bass EQed down.

E5K has this layer of bass that constantly shadows over the other frequencies. Most people refer to this as bleeding. I don't like that effect at all. E5K's notes are large and somewhat thick.
In terms of technicalities (and on a purely technical standpoint), I'll have to say that FH5 is superior. More revealing, better imaging and has a greater level of separation. There so much more flaws of the E5K to point out compared to FH5.
But in terms of what I enjoy more? Probably E5K. And only for simple, acoustic songs. E5K gets confused and lost in rock and metal.

Vitandus: did you happen to read Brooko's post on the screen removal? Anyway, he tested the FH5 with and without screens and there was no viable difference. Check out his post.
