Just got the spanking new FiiO FH1S in Malaysia. Here’s a mini review.

The FH1S is a very fun sounding IEM. At this price point, you can’t fault it in any way. I mean that literally. It has a very enjoyable sound that works will all genres you throw at it and will be much liked by both audiophiles and the casual listener. I tried it on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and my Sony WM1A. The Sony brought out more dynamics and micro details while the iPhone output was no slouch either. Tidal sounded musical and dynamic as ever especially on vocal jazz and the master quality audio shone through them.

Compared to the FH1 which I have as well, the FH1S bass although slightly less in quantity over the FH1, digs deeper due to its significantly bigger DD. Mids and Highs are also much clearer and it adds the missing sparkle i always thought the FH1 had. So overall it’s a great successor to the FH1 and comes in at a much cheaper price point as well.

A nice trick I picked up for those who love their bass. The FH1S has 2 air vents. 1 near the 2 pin connector and the other directly above the driver. If you put a tape over the driver vent, you get a very significant jump in bass quantity and it does not muddy the mix. For those who like more bass, this trick works wonders. And you can always remove the tape if you feel the bass is too strong. So you get to tune the bass with just a piece of tape! How cool is that.

You get a very nice cable with the FH1S and the usual storage box with balanced & bass tips. Packaging has also improved over its predecessor with magnetic latching.

I would highly recommend the FH1S to everyone looking for a fun sound. You can’t find anything wrong with it. It sounds superb and I think it’s the new Budget Hybrid King from FiiO. I love it!

I guess several of us received our pairs on the same day. Will try a simple write up here, not into doing a full review. First, are they worth the price? Eh, kind of. They look great, the packaging is also great for the under $100 market. And for the most part they sound very nice. I find the treble to be a bit much. It's kind of hard to describe as it's not sibilant so much. It's affecting the cymbals on the drums more than the s's in the vocals. So they are very clear sounding, very good for analyzing music. Maybe not so much just sitting back and enjoying music, if you catch my drift. Now as I said, I did just get these in today, so I plan on giving them a few days to get used to and see if my opinions change. It could happen. The only thing I'll add is that I'm 56, so if something is harsh in the treble range enough to bother me it probably is a real thing.

Is it the fixer upper for the EA3's! a balanced version of those?
Dear user,

The difference between FH1s and EA3:
First of all, the EA3 is friendly tuning for popular music and suitable for entry-level audiophiles. The frequency response curve of both ends is up that it would perform strongly in bass and treble while the mids vocals would be a little bit backward. Compared to the EA3, the FH1s has higher impedance, performing more balanced bass, mids and treble. The bass would be lessened without texture changing. The mids vocals would be relatively forward. Besides, we have optimized the higher frequency, making it more coherent without any resolution loss, which suits music styles of all kinds.
Second, the material of the sound tubes are different. The FH1s adopted brass material while the EA3 is aluminized, so the treble of the FH1s extends better. The cable material has been upgraded from oxygen-free copper to monocrystalline copper, with wire cores increased to 120.
Third, the FH1s has additional accessories than EA3: foam tips and an HB1 waterproof carrying case.
Best regards

Did you try the trick as i mentioned in my mini review above? It actually tones down the harshness of the treble and gives a bass boost while still sounding clean and musical. Try it,

Hello sir. one question.

Does the FH1s have the same shape than the FD1? I want to know if they can fit my ear the same. Thanks.
