My experience so far with the FD5 and LC-RE has been good so my commiserations to you Floris888. This is a worrying development and I hope it is not a start of a trend. I can also relate to your comment about battery life of your M11Pro. I own the Shanling M6Pro and battery life is much less than what is advertised. It is as if the battery they supplied was not new but refurbished!!Im mad . After 3 weeks , my FD5 its dead . Left side. And too bad , because FD5 its on par with Hifiman Arya in teerms of sound . I know because i have Arya. That good is FD5 , but QC its indesirable.

Talk about bad luck! I hope FiiO helps you get this sorted out.Im done with fiio. Fa7 , broke . Q5 broke. FD5 after 3 weeks left side its not working properly. And im thinking to buy 200 £ LC-RE cable. No thank you. Aaa and my M11 Pro just 4 hours of battery life per day.
I have had a number of FiiO products for years. Not a single issue with any product. Now, some other manufacturers like Samsung...

I use my finger nails to make sure the mmcx connector stays perfectly stright in place when taking out cables. I have never had a single issue with 100s of mmcx earphones and while I know mmcx tend to fail more so than 2 pins I seen instances where 2 pin earphone fail as well.
Be sure when you take out a cable to use the included tool or your grown out finger nails pressed between the gap of the housing and the cable. Do this every time and your failure rate will not be a fail.
If you stright out yank your cable to take out the cable that is when the mmcx will eventually fail. It will happen to any mmcx earphone if you yank the cable.

Thats crazy recently got me a IER Z1R myself though I am using a pure silver palladium coated cable Penon Leo Plus with it. I can see how that FD5 cable matches well with the Z1R though.

That is what I meant by the included tool. I find it easier to use my nails. Does exactly the same thing. I just pinch in between the housing and the cable. I do cable reviews for various vendors and I have never had issue using this method.

How do the Z1R isolate, both outside noise and leakage?
I've had complaints from the missus that my Shure SE846s can be heard! Considering "trading up"...

Regarding the connection of Mmcx .... A loose or slightly loose connection even if the signal still gets through ok has been a bug bear for many years for me. But here's a tip for those who don't already know, unless the actual socket is damaged it usually comes down to the split holding ring on the Mmcx that gives you the click and fixed positioning, if you gently open it up slightly it will regain the grip and stop the spin, I usually use a trimmer tuning tool which you gently push into the split which will open it up about half a mm to a mm, what method you use is up to you but just apply gently the force as even though you might not have thought it's opened any it might only need a slight bit of pressure to even open it a fraction of a mm to give you the click again, Mmcx are mass produced even the high quality ones and can always be a bit hit and miss in general what might be loose on one set might be tight on another, do your cable rolling early on with new sets and once happy with the result in sound stick with it as repeated plugging and unplugging can result in a wobble sometimes as your pushing metal against metal after all.
