[FIIO FA19] Flagship 10 Knowles BA IEM

Picture below was with a Coreir Brass (M size) eartip on a slightly deep insertion. On the right, the Shure SE846.

Now, look at FiiO's model for another perspective: https://x.com/FIIO_official/status/1806262557117931737

These are chunky boys indeed.
I have to say, that these model pictures (Moondrop is doing the same thing but usually going more into the cosplay theme) are sometimes somewhat questionable :D not just due to the fit of the IEM, just the whole theme of these.

They all have this..."innocent but lascivious very young woman" theme which feels strange to me. But maybe thats just me

In fact that very young girl in that context is definitely out of place

Besides the size, do you think they are better than the SE846?

This is Head-Fi. You know the newer model is always better, right? 🤌

Joke aside. I honestly cannot answer as I am still in the honeymoon stage with the FA19.

I tested both and the SE846 is tuned completely different.

You can use the SE846 as an Studio Reference Monitor, that is not possible with the FA19. So i would dare that they are too different to be compared.

Also the SE846 has significantly higher isolation, especially with the COMPLY P-Type.

I wore the SE846 for 14h on an plane flight and it enabled me to listen to music at 001/100 Low Gain on my DAWN PRO. In terms of comfort and isolation both would have been impossible with the FA19

Edited because my message was a bit unproductive. I still do not like this IEM.

I missed the original message, perhaps it was unproductive but we can handle constructive criticism, what didn't you like?

I'm intrigued, if you don't want to say perhaps just edit again to simply "deleted"
It was just an incoherent rambling on wonky treble death.

I don't think these IEMs get the praise that they should, so I'm posting here to give them some love. I've owned mine for about 3 months now and bought them after trialling numerous other similarly priced IEMs at my local headphone store (too long ago to remember exactly what I listened to, but there were lots, not just BAs, but, dynamic drivers as well) and after having owned numerous IEMs in the past. I was after something that I would be happy to listen to 'on the go', either on holidays or when travelling for work, when I don't have access to my desktop home system (primarily ZMF Verite Closed Headphones driven by a NAIM Uniti Atom through a vintage Sanyo Amp or Mcintosh tube amp). I use the FA19s mainly with a Sony NW-WM1Z DAP (excellent synergy IMO) and, to me they sound wonderful, plenty of detail, fantastic across all frequencies, they make the instruments sound very life like - I find myself listening for hours so that I can hear the next track. They certainly don't leave me longing for my ZMFs when I'm away from home. I'm. not going to write a full review, but (as a famous Australian once said) 'do yourself a favour' and get a pair, IMO you won't regret it. My previous favourite IEMs, Audeze LCD-i3, are being left to gather dust.
