Which FiiO is recommended based on price and reviews?

Had both;
the E3 has a really higher noise-floor. the E6 is a little bit better in this area. 
Moreover, the E6 has volume control, bass control, is rechargeable via USB (doesn't need batteries), and has a nice removable back clip.
(I always preferred the E6).

Thanks, I ordered both, since the E3 was very cheap for the price, and the E6 was on sale.  Another 18 dollars or so could get me the E11, but chose to stick with the cheaper alternative for now.
