Just updated to v27 and it works great! Thanks for the work the team put in and for listening to the feedback. I don't have a digital setup to test the channel flipping, but I can now listen to my gapless CDs and the first second of audio is no longer cut off.:beerchug:

So finally I've managed to do the update...
After trying all my USB drives to do the update (after formatting them to FAT32 in windows 11 and put the update file on) and when I was about to give up, I've tried again the USB drive which worked for v25, but this time I've prepared it using my android tablet (format the USB drive and copying the update file on it). To my surprise the update worked this time. I don't understand why the update didn't worked when I've prepared the USB drive on my windows laptop (as I did for v25), but it worked when I've prepared the USB drive on my android tablet. Maybe this post will help those for which the update failed.

That’s ridiculous, haha! Thanks, man!
Previously, I tried formatting the USB drive to FAT32 on both Linux and Windows — no success.

This time, I formatted it using my Android phone… and it worked. I’ve got the V27 firmware now!

I often use a good partition assistant for windows, but he seems to have only Chinese version?
If you can use it, it will be very easy to format a large USB flash drive to the correct FAT32 format!

Updated successfully this time. Downloaded file to Mac - unzipped. Copied over to USB-C Drive - Made sure Direct Mode was on; didn't reboot - so tried to switch off, the screen dimmed; and V27 had been installed.

Hello.
So far, so good... It is true that the user experience has improved in the way the discs are read 👍
For my use case, no real difference though; it worked before, and it works also after update.

But, I still find annoying this deadtime at startup when nothing happens , during the "splash" screen...

I know, some will say that it is part of the "nostalgia", and the user experience of physical media... but why making it so long ?
Does the DM13 need some "bootup time" at startup ?

Would it be possible (in a later update) to choose in the config/options menu standard startup as it is today, or faster startup where the disc loads TOC during the scroll on the screen, and also to be able to resume playback at power ON, as before ?

By the way, please thank the Fiio dev team for the hard work 😉
I'm one of the first to complain when things go wrong, but I think we have to say when things go in the right way !

Updated my Bluetooth model to V27 without any issues, took about 10 seconds. This has basically fixed all the remaining annoyances I have it with it, mainly the autoplay behavior and the first second of audio getting cutoff. I never had any issues with gapless playback on the previous firmware, but can confirm gapless still works for me on the new firmware. I still can't pair my iFi GO pods to it though :(

I think I spoke too soon on the latest firmware. There seems to be a regression in the firmware so bad that it will likely kick me back to the v25 firmware. This could very well be user error on my part, but I have a lot of CD-Rs in my collection that would read fine on the v25 firmware. On v27, the last couple seconds of every track gets cut off. I find this very odd as this doesn't seem to happen on regular CDs (tested with 2 CDs I have: Pink Floyd DSOTM and Periphery II). When I flashed v25 back onto the player, CD-Rs would read just fine. I have no clue what changed or why there would be a change. To my knowledge, CD-Rs in audio CD mode should basically be identical to a pressed CD in terms of what the player sees.

Regardless, I like to buy flac albums off bandcamp and burn them to CDs to keep everything in one place, so CD-Rs not working is a huge deal to me. I'm curious if others with CD-Rs in can confirm similar behavior. My CD burning setup is a bit nonstandard (I'm on Linux), but the 2 programs I tried burning with produced the same CD. At least to the point where the player recognized both CDs as the same and resumed playback from where the first CD left off.

I'm at a loss here. Again, really cool piece of tech. But it's just confirming my fear that I just need to cut my losses and get a different CD player to use as my primary.

Edit: I'd also like to add that this has been tried with 4 different CD-Rs: one older one from Memorex, 2 newer ones from Memorex, one from Verbatim. I could potentially comb over every track on every CD, but it seems consistent that every track on the CDs have the last 2 seconds cut off. Which is to say, it isn't an intermittent or random problem. It's consistently repeatable.

HI!

I have some questions, I can't find any answers:
  1. Is it possible to use DM13 as a USB DAC for a PC/Mac? This device has such a good internals, would be great to use as an external DAC.
  2. I can hear only left channel from front Balanced output. But from rear Balanced output(BLA.LO) can hear both channels. Tried with Sony MDR-1AM2 and Sony IER-M7
Regards,
Zangar
