[FIIO DM13] HiFi Balanced Output Portable Stereo CD Player DM13 Is Officially Released!

May 10, 2025 at 5:55 AM Post #736 of 744
I have just updated my DM13 (standard) from V11 to V15 and now i have zero output? Like nothing. I followed the OFFICIAL instructions to the letter and now i have a player making no noise. I only updated because the gapless playback that is advertised wasnt working correctly. I also see in the official forum post there is someone else also complaining of the same thing. Yes I used the correct firmware, Yes i have a fat32 usb, yes the firmware did take. But now i have a glorified led display with no sound. And before you say yes i am on pre out. I have tried using the line out ports as well and nothing.

Edit: I have downgraded to the V14 that is provided by FiiO Wilson. I have a working machine again. Yeah there is something very wrong with the v15 firmware currently. It does need to be pulled from distribution I think.
Nevermind it is now not providing any output again?? I had only turned it off for 30 minutes??? what on earth is with this firmware? Is this thing just non functional?

Edit: Turns out it just doesnt like plastic beach by Gorillaz. It does seem to have blank section on the disc which might be the thing that throws it. But kinda wild that it just cant play it?

Edit 2: put a different disc in then put plastic beach back in and now plastic beach is working. Its like doing a seance :p Look i am all for doing a bit of work for your music, I am big into vinyl but this is a little silly. Sound wise though this thing sounds fantastic but come on FiiO, firmware makes or breaks devices like this. You are having your lunch eaten by alternatives from competitors

To be honest, I am upset that the company representative pretends that he does not understand what I am talking about - when I write about the beeping that comes from the display of the device. It would be much better if he simply agreed with the problem than to pretend that everything is fine and he does not understand what I am talking about.
I have the same feeling... FiiO products are really appealing... in theory. Once you use it, you face some issues, and when you make some kind of feedback, quite often the answer is "this is a normal behaviour".

For now I'm happy with my DM13, but not without some quirks like random skips from time to time... The BT doesn't work with all devices...

I ve also been struggling with a charging problem on my JM21 since yesterday, but after lots of trial and a factory reset it is charging again... 🙄 For now...
I simply didn't manage to download a firmware for local update, in order to revert to a previous version; server seems not to work.

I really think they try to go too fast in the design process, at least for the firmware, they release many products at a very high rate, and this comes at a cost...

Everyone should be warned that when buying from FiiO, issues are common, even more when it's just been released. So everyone should make his own decisions knowing that.

And I keep on saying that I'm really happy with their IEMs 😉 Spoiler; no software involved... 🙄

This, or FiiO releases products that are still in beta. But I agree, you have to be adventurous to be among the first buyers of a FiiO product. You can even be sure they’ll fix the issues.
Perhaps ou wanted to say : "You CAN'T even be sure they'll fix the issue" right ? 🤣

@FiiO Willson @FiiO @FiiO Support Lin Lin @FIIO ALAN is FiiO so stubborn or just naive or plain ineffective? You have first hand reports on all these issues and you still haven’t issued a new firmware to fix them? The last update was 5 months ago. Are you serious about the audio business at all? Why bother making a cd player that sucks so bad. Surely your company has better things to do than to con the users into buying a product that’s useless?? Very very shameful of FiiO.

I urge everyone to shame FiiO on all social media sites and ask them to remove the Dm13 from shelves and make a public apology. They have taken us for a ride far enough. Stop buying any FiiO products. I repeat, stop buying FiiO products and return all products that are still within the return window. I’m starting a campaign to this effect until they start showing some respect to the users who spent hard earned money to buy crap products.
In fact, DM13 has been updating its firmware, and when it came out, we updated it from version V21 to V25. And the V26 version is going to be updated in the near future

I have a feeling that maybe your V25 was not upgraded successfully, but you can try the V26 version of the firmware in a few days :beerchug:

[EDIT] Works very well also with SMSL RAW-MDA1 dac...IMG_20250507_191402.jpg

But it resamples to 48 Khz... very weird for a Cd player, which is supposed to output 44.1Khz by definition 🙄
In fact, as long as you're using Bluetooth, you won't get the source output because Bluetooth transmission, itself, is a process of re-encoding and decoding.

As for the difference between 44.1k, 48k or 96k, it's because of the difference between different encoding protocols, for example, LDAC can support 96k, while aptX HD can only support 48k. :beerchug:

Sorry, but you cannot state AptX HD Can ONLY support 48KHz, here is a proof it can support 44.1 if properly implemented :

My Qdelix 5K does this, no problem.
So Why would a CD player need to resample to 48Khz, is there any good reasons for doing this ? Other than the developing team not knowing how to deal with 44.1.

I know that BT transmission il a destructive process with encoding/decoding,but there is no need to change the sources sampling frequency...
(Just my own opinion as a electronics tech and audio enthusiast)
