A dongle DAC with a battery pack is a great concept. I'm just surprised that no one has jumped on the untapped opportunity of MagSafe compatible products... a dongle DAC with MagSafe built in would allow iPhone users to just stick the dongle on the back without the need for external magnets, velcro, etc.

I think i know why many manufacturers are not doing this...Would love to see a 2.1 studio monitor speaker system tuned NOT neutrally but tuned for music enjoyment.
Something quite desk friendly like a 4,5 inch metal woofer with a AMT tweeter. Develop an 8-10 inch sub to go with it
That would make very costly Standmounts or bookshelfs useless.
Almost all manufacturers are using very weak magnets, limpy cones and small cabinets that cripple the bass. They fix all that for high end ones, but they charge insane amount for that.
For 2.1 system you can use small drivers with weaker magnets and you dont even need big expensive cabinets cause sub would take care of the bass.

Please make an integrated amplifier for passive speakers too!

FiiO Desktop HIFI Active Speaker Concept Design (2) Geometric section speaker
In this design, the speaker comes with a traditional piano lacquer body, and an RGB light strip is added between the cabinet and the panel. The mesh enclosure is a one-piece design characterized by geometric sections, while the volume knob settles at the back of the body.
We feel it is a little conservative with less recognition and innovation. But it is also a relatively stable and secure solution.

Thanks for the kind feedback. We will report to the engineer for assessing about that.A dongle DAC with a battery pack is a great concept. I think this is a fantastic and innovative idea and would certainly consider purchasing for use with my own Ka3. I'm hoping Fiio follows through with this tech.FiiO concept design-From @JamesFiiO
Dongle DAC with a magnetic battery pack
FiiO's Dongle DAC KA3 has been well received since its launch. However, there are indeed some problems with this kind of dongle DAC, which are mainly reflected in:
1. The Dongle DAC need to be powered by your phone. To achieve good sound quality, the power consumption wouldn't be small, which will lead to obvious decline of battery life after listening to songs.
2. Some phones have restrictions on power supply to external devices or music apps might be killed in the background when supplying power to external devices. This also leads to compatibility issues and the user experience is not good enough.
Therefore, we designed an additional battery pack, which uses a magnetic interface to dock with the Dongle DAC. In this way, you can choose to use this external battery to power the dongle to improve performance, reduce power consumption and improve reliability and stability.
If you think that the battery pack will bring extra weight and affect portability, you can easily remove the battery pack and still use it as a very small and portable dongle.

In this design, the body of the speaker is made of aluminum alloy with a fabric mesh enclosure. There is an RGB light strip added between the cabinet and the panel. It is a more concise Nordic style. Of course, it is more low-profile, but with higher requirements for the texture of both the mesh and aluminum alloy body, which is more harmoniously matching with today's black/silver-grey computer monitors.

FiiO Desktop HIFI Active Speaker Concept Design (4) Mecha Warrior
This conceptual design and the previous geometric section design are imbued with the same spirit. The difference is that in this design, the mesh enclosure highlights the mecha style. In fact, this design is quite personalized, and I like it. Moreover, it fits perfectly with FiiO's current industrial design style.
Of course, there are also disadvantages, that is, the mesh enclosure has a greater impact on the acoustics. The process will also be more complicated.

(5) The concept design shared today is mainly to make changes on the mesh enclosure, which is characterized by the addition of three red, blue and cyan vertical bars to add a bit of style to the dull color scheme. The mesh enclosure also undulates with the shape of the driver. The reason for this design being abandoned is mainly because it is not conducive to sound production and the appearance is over personalized.

Just be sure to sand down the sharp edges of the metal endcaps if you ever produce it. I bought the KA3 and returned it because its endcaps kept snagging on different things. I was literally considering filing them down myself but decided it wasn't worth the trouble.
