[FiiO BTR17/BTR7] True Lossless Bluetooth, Portable Bluetooth DAC and Headphone Amplifier BTR17 Is Officially Released!

Apr 21, 2025 at 5:50 AM Post #3,421 of 3,460
I rarely use my BTR17 for calls, but today, I received a WhatsApp call while listening to music on YouTube Premium in aptX Lossless mode.

As expected, the music paused automatically, and the call came through seamlessly. Despite my BTR17 being in the interior pocket of my fleece and me being one floor above my living room (where my Xiaomi 15 Ultra was), the call quality was excellent, and I could hear the caller perfectly.

However, after the call ended, the YouTube playback did not resume automatically. I had to manually resume it by accessing my phone, as the playback remained paused.

Later on, while listening to music again, I decided to initiate a WhatsApp call myself. The playback paused as before, the call connected effortlessly, and once the call ended, the music resumed automatically without any issues.

I’m using the latest firmware version, but this was just one test. I plan to conduct further tests, even though I never use my BTR17 for calls.

Strange one, any one with any ideas or solution.

With my Xperia 1 VI connected to BTR17 via aptX - lossless (aptX-LS) it only plays for typically 23s then the audio drops but BT still shows connected and the Music player still playing. All other BT codecs not having this and play fine be it aptX, aptX-HD, LDAC, SBC, AAC.

Does same in Spotify, Amazon Music, using UAPP.

Updating to 1.1 not fixed, any setting it could be on phone?

::Edit::

Just to add, I still have my BTR7 and if I set that the aptX - Adaptive it all plays fine.

And just an observation, swapping between BTR7 and BTR17 listening with my IER-Z1R and the SQ improvement is noticeable!

::Edit2::

Did a factory reset of the BTR17 on 1.1 firmware and it reconnected to phone as default LE BT.

Turned off LE and set initially to LDAC 990, fine, then tried aptX-Lossless again and now not dropping and stable 🤷‍♂️

Does aptX-LS always default to 24/44.1k ?

If I have an HD track say 24/88 or 24/96 is it better to still use LDAC 990.

Both LDAC990 and aptX lossless sound fabulous to be honest.

I use both case-less with just a shirt/belt type clip to keep them light and no bulk

For my ears, the BTR17 using balanced with my IER-Z1R over LDAC990 or aptX-LS sounds as good as any DAP I've had, even vs wired for majority of time.

aptX Lossless can support a maximum sample rate of 24-bit/96kHz. However, it typically defaults to 16-bit/44.1kHz for CD-quality audio and adjusts dynamically based on connection stability and device compatibility.

My BTR17, on aptX-LS, always defaults to 44.1kHz - HR, as shown on its screen.

Specifically, in UAPP/Settings/Bluetooth audio, I have enabled: Allow the app to change BT properties. When I start to play a WAV file which is 16-bit and and 44.1kHz, the same sample rate displays on the the BTR17 screen.

If I play another WAV which is 96kHz, the sample rate on the display shows as 96K, aptX-AD, SQ.

In both situations, I am getting a message on UAPP: Changed Bluetooth codec properties.

Perhaps FiiO could answer this question:
Does aptX-LS always default to 44.1kHz on the BTR17?

Quoting my own post, it's started dropping any audio after about 23s again if I use aptX-LS

Anybody else had issues? Using mine with Xperia 1 VI.

UPDATE

Toggling that LC3 on/off again at BTR17 BT settings page seems to have stopped disconnecting again for now 🤷‍♂️

I made diy for btr17 from 103450 battery and compact plate
I myself would rather make a whole DAC&AMP Combo at that point. To be fair.

Now that's a "DIY-er" Mod if i've ever seen any. GJ dude.
But still i'd recommend you "Re-Mod" it onto the "Leatherette" case, if anything of today i've noticed if the thing came with a case or needing a case, you should use a case with it.
Banging around in your Pocket or Pack doesn't seem doing these things any good.

They clip on my cloths, when not in use they both have small velvet pouches to live in. No marks/scratches on either 😃👍

I originally had on cases but decided I didn't need the extra bulk or hindered access to the buttons. Plus, not like expensive multi-thousand DAPS. Not breaking bank on replacing.

Yes, definitely. If only because the cable bends unnaturally in the case when it's on the belt..

Dear friend,

Hi, currently, aptX Lossless only support 44.1kHz for BTR17.

Best regards

@FiiO Support Lin Lin what about harmonic distortion compensation in FiiO Control not working properly for BTR17?

It's mind boggling to me why would they not acknowledge certain issues and fix them. Maybe some of us are on FiiO's ignore list?

In any case, I don't think I will buy anything from FiiO again.

I'm gonna be out of this thread, as I'm wasting my time.
