Is there a dryness throughout the song, or is it a dryness that occurs when the atmosphere is created, as I mentioned? If it is a general dryness, the topping L70 may be adding to it.
It's general dryness. I will try through my SPL Phonitor XE and see if that is also dry. The L70 is generally not a dry sounding amp to my ears. It's a clean warm side of neutral but not dry. It could just be the pairing is clean on clean (plus the headphones) and too much clean is the result.

By the way, I usually have these experiences with the s23 Ultra. My advice to those who use BTR17 specifically for the S23 Ultra is to completely turn off the Dolby Atmos effect and Uhq upscaler.

However, if you are using it with Apple Music, I recommend that you turn off the spatial audio feature.

Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos sound do not add atmosphere and reduce dynamic range and resolution. You feel like there is a thick curtain between you and the sound.

It could be, or it could be the difference between our experiences, our ears, or our perceptions.

I am using my S24 Plus. I have Dolby off but I have UHQ on. UHQ has minimal effect on anything in my experience. I feel like it's a 2 to 5 percent difference in anything. Not very noticeable at all unless you're listening side by side to Off/On but not detrimental to the sound.

I will give you examples of two songs so you can notice it more clearly.

In the song Ndakuavara, BTR17 creates atmosphere at some moments and this disappears with Uhq. When I listen to it on Apple music, there is an atmosphere that starts at the 10th second and continues intermittently throughout the song. This goes away when I turn on the Uhq upscaler.

I also noticed it in Orhan Gencebay's song Yokluk. When I turn on the Uhq feature in this song recorded in 1980, the analog feel disappears and the song and instruments become artificial. Listen carefully to old songs, it adds an artificiality that spoils the spirit of the song. Yes, it's a little hard to notice, but I've seen more harm than good. But if anyone has heard that Uhq upscaler has any benefits other than 192khz sampling rate and yellow PCM text on the screen on BTR17, I would appreciate it. That is my experience :)

Which device are you connecting with? I can use the microphone via Bluetooth connection with the S23 Ultra and iPhone 15 pro Max. But I couldn't do it on a Windows laptop.
I'm connecting it to an Iphone 15 Pro Max. The headphones connected to the BTR17 with inline mic are the awesome klipsch x20i .. which work wonderfully directly with my iphone of course.

Is there anything in the software to turn it on and off? I couldn't find it. The btr3k had the ability to turn inline mic on and off (even though it never worked well)

It does not use the microphone on the headphones worn on the BTR17. It uses its own microphone. There is no on/off setting in settings. My guess is that either there was an obstacle in front of the microphone on it or the BTR17 was a bit far away from you and couldn't pick up your voice. Open the voice recorder on your iPhone and record audio while connected to BTR17 via Bluetooth. Headphones do not need to be connected to BTR17 at that time. Then turn off Bluetooth and listen to the sound on your iPhone.

In line mic is not the on device mic. In line mic is the term of art for the microphone embedded in cable of the headphone. Hence known as inline.

I did not say otherwise. I said that the microphone on the headset or iem that the does not work so that he can understand. In other words, the BTR17 does not have an inline microphone. The BTR17 only records sound with the microphone on it.

I wholly dont understand what you mean to say.

Does it support using headphone in-line microphones? Documentation FAQ says yes. I can't get it to work.

Has anyone gotten it to work?

Yes, it has an inline feature with Bluetooth. I can record sound and talk on calls. It records my voice even if there is no iem plugged in.

When there is no IEM plugged in, it is using the onboard microphone.I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THAT. MY QUESTION IS **NOT** ABOUT THAT.

Have you tried it with IEM with inline mic on the IEM plugged in and via bluetooth?

BTR17, like BTR7, supports using the mic that is located on the wire of 3.5mm headphones/earphones.

So if your headphones/earphones have an inline mic, aka a mic on the headphones/earphones' wire, BTR17 will use that mic - otherwise, BTR17 will use its own mic.

In this example, the earphones have a 4 pole 3.5 mm jack, and an inline mic (this is what an "inline mic" means). BTR17 will use this mic.

I understood what you asked, I'll have to wait for my BTR17 to arrive to test. I was just explaining how this whole mic thing works so it's understood properly.

Correct, my device isn't working with the inline mic. Has anyone tested and confirmed that the inline mic functionality works?

I tried it now, yes it works. Please calm down😂I knew it didn't have an inline feature, but my headphones record sound with their microphone. I covered the microphone hole on the Btr17 with my finger and left the Btr17 away and quietly spoke into the microphone yes it recorded.
