This is happening to me also. There is def a software issue with LDAC. disabling other codecs but ldac actually loses ldac. Also I need to toggle ldac on every time I connect. the btr7 never had this issue.

Someone said that disabling LDAC got them AAC.

What if you only leave AAC enabled, is LDAC working? That would be funny, even though most probably it won't do that, but who knows?

If you are referring to me? What I said was that with all codecs enabled in Developer Options (When enabled). I got APTx-HD when BEST AUDIO was selected in Bluetooth Settings on the phone for the BTR17 connection. And IF I changed to MOST STABLE there, I got AAC, Then if I went back to BEST QUALITY AUDIO, I got LDAC connection. Have done this many times as work around to get LDAC. So a firmware glitch of some sort.

Mine just randomly connects to AptX HD all the time. I have to re enable LDAC all the time from Developer options. I think this option should be added to the FiiO Control application.

The autoselecting app someone mentioned to me pages ago works for phones. Sometimes I gotta double tap the BT icon and reconnect but it's still faster than going to connections + developer options and forcing 990/LDAC.

Thanks a lot for the tip; switching the codec manually to LDAC in developer options works for me, too. No need to factory reset/re-pair. It's still a bug, though.

On my samsung phone I have to toggle ldac from the bluetooth menu every time. It always defaults to aptx even when I originally connected to LDAC. once I disconnect and reconnect I have to redo this everytime. No issues with btr7

This app works for Samsung. No longer have to force from 606/660 and auto switches. Cost 4.80$?

Using it too, instead of having to go every time in the developer menu.

It sets the quality I choose, automatically.

I don't really understand why the design of the BTR17's separate data and power USB ports, in combination with the desktop mode switch.

If I'm using it on a desktop (like with my Mac), I'm ok to have it wired. In that case, I'd rather be able to plug the data cable in, enable D-mode, and get the extra power. At the moment, the only way I can get D-mode with a single USB connector to my laptop, is also to use Bluetooth (rather than PC mode)? It seems odd that a mode optimised for desktop connection (that requires USB for power) also then uses Bluetooth for data?

Am I misunderstanding it?

You can use D-Mode with, for example my phone charger, over bluetooth. You can use D-Mode in phone mode as well with the small data tether and your phone charger too.

You can not use D-Mode with your phone in "desktop" mode unless you change UAC to 1.0. (your phone needs the driver for 2.0 that your computer can install for 2.0).
Over your laptop in desktop mode, you would also need to attach an additional USB-C cable plugged into a spare USB-C/Thunderbolt port. More likely, this would be a spare port on a thunderbolt dock or your phone charger at your computer desk. On the go, this is a little inconvenient but so is hauling around powerful headphones that require proper amplification on the go. I'm not bringing my stabilized wood ZMF's in public

I could test it with my Verite Closed for power but that's kinda dumb to run 300 Ohms cans over 4.4 to a BTR17 xD. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should! I have 6 IEM's for which I use this little nugget  None of them require volume over 20 in high gain in normal mode. I might mess around with D-mode at even lower volumes (8-11 vice 14-17) to see if utilizing ALL of the amp modules have any "benefits" at low volumes but it's for the curiosity vault at this time.

I have had zero software problems with the BTR17. Probably because I have not installed the Fiio Control app at all, I learned my lesson fighting with Fiio's app using the old UTWS5. I haven't touched the updates either and probably won't until I run into any real problems.

I consistently stay in LDAC. I don't have an aptX lossless phone, thanks a lot Samsung, but the device sounds okay enough in LDAC. What worries me is that I use it on the go a lot and the power seems merely okay when not in desktop mode. I figure I can solve this by hooking up a beefy portable USB-C charger, but then that almost defeats the point of how small and handy it is.

What are you running on it that requires D-Mode on the go?
