Before getting to the K7, let's first take a review of our pioneer, the K5 Pro. At the first beginning, we were negative about desktop DAC/Amps, but just making an attempt. However, the unexpected feedback from consumers to the K5 Pro gave us faith to invest more in these kinds of products. The K9 Pro released last year was an example. This time, the K7 is coming as an enhanced model between the K5 Pro and K9 series.
See the diagram of the K9 Pro architecture, there are 6 stages in signal processing, such as DAC, AC conversion, current amplification, volume gain process, THX amplification. This is the standard truly balanced circuit for our high-end desktop DAC/Amps and audio players. Since the sound performance of the K9 Pro was highly acclaimed by users, the K7 referenced its architecture. USB signal goes successively through the XMOS chip -> dual DAC -> LPF low-pass filter -> volume IC adjusting -> buffer amplifier -> gain selection ->headphone amplifier -> SE/BAL headphones out. The circuit architecture of the K7 and K9 series has the same feature, i.e. dual DAC will work in both SE or BAL outputs, thus resulting in better sound performance.

In terms of USB decoding, the K7 uses the expert XMOS XUF208 chip with dual clock management that handles different audio signals and any music styles. In terms of headphone amplifier, it uses dual THX AAA 788+ amps which has the best overall performance in the current market. It can produce an undistorted 560mW under a 300Ω load (THD+N＜1%), and an undistorted 2000mW under a 32Ω load (THD+N＜1%). In terms of DAC part, the left and right channels are each equipped with an efficient high-performance AK4493SEQ, which is an upgraded model based on the classic AK4493. Both the impedance and noise parts were improved, leading to a more natural, rhythmical and relaxed sound.
In addition, the K7 first uses RGB indicator lights that are capable of displaying single colors as well as mixed colors, with a unique light flow effect during power-on/off or input switching. Dazzling and vivid light effects give your desk some much needed spice.

The K7 features a power design consisting of multiple independent stages, with a voltage of each stage being regulated by low-noise LDOs. Feeding this power design is an external 12V switching power supply. These supplies plentiful, clean power for an extraordinary listening experience.
To ensure stable and reliable running, the K7 was designed with overheating, overloading and DC protection systems. Overheating helps to avoid heat accumulation after long-time uses over high output power; Overloading ensures the device has sufficient power for excellent audio quality; DC protection helps to avoid damage to headphones if there is any accident.
The K7 also follows the convenient interaction in the K9 series. Press the button to switch input signals, switch gain level by the 2-level switch to take good care of headphones with different impedance and sensitivity; switch outputs between DAC, PRE and HP outputs by the 3-level switch. With the help of distinct indicator lights, it is very convenient and concise to operate the device when listening to music between headphones and speakers.

The K7 features an all-aluminum alloy construction, carefully finished with CNC and other processes. Its elegant black color is perfectly complemented by the gold accents of THX and Hi-Res Audio badges topped with a splash of color from the RGB lights for a thoroughly luxurious appearance. Thanks to ADC curve reconstruction, experience a smooth 112 steps of adjustable volume free of channel imbalances and noise for a more natural and smooth volume adjustment. It only measures 55mm thick, and features commonly used USB, optical, coaxial and RCA inputs, as well as 6.35mm SE, 4.4mm BAL and RCA outputs to provide you with more options.

Now let's get to the Q7. It's been two years since the last Q model. When talking about the Q7, we have to mention the M17, which was warmly welcomed in the market. After some market research, we decided to redesign the Q7 based on great essences from the M17 in a simple way.

In the Q7, the humble knob conveniently allows one to quickly and precisely adjust the volume, select the input, and even go through the menu settings. Also quite handy is the ability to adjust the volume with the knob when the screen is off. Digital inputs cover USB, optical and coaxial while analog outputs include 2 SE (6.35mm and 3.5mm) and 2 BAL (2.5mm and 4.4mm). Could I connect a turntable phono preamplifier to the RCA input, connect powered speakers to the RCA output, and use K7’s volume knob to control the level of the analog audio signal sent to the speakers?

It’s more affordable than I thought. I guess it would be around AUD $350 to $400 when it arrives in Australia. Glad that I didn’t go for K5 Pro. Can’t wait for it to arrive in Australia for a demo.
Probably K5 Pro will be discontinued, too close in price snd specs to K7. I was expecting BT on K7, albeit at a higher price.
