-600€
I thought that was a good deal since i can get a matched pair of the Psvane CV181-T-MII 6SN7 for 224€ anyway and i read that the basic 300B tubes are not impressive.

Ok, I'd go for the tubeless option then and look for a pair of Takatsuki around 1600€.
600€ less and another 800€ since I would have taken the upgraded Full Music tubes makes only a 200€ difference.
Or are the Full Music tubes really good as well?

Letting it burn in but we are still unpacking etc. didn’t have enough time to give it my critical attention.

First impressions is that it works well with the TMs. Might be my favorite pairing so far.
This does not make me happy. I am trying to avoid “needing” the TMs!

The upgraded full music tubes are way better but nowhere near the top.
From everything i've read here:
Elrog TM (4k€ and the next batch is next year LUL) > Elrog MO (2,5k€, waiting time ~8+ weeks) > Elrog ER (1,6k€) >= Takatsuki >> Upgraded Full Music >> Basic 300B

I’ve drawn some conclusions from my Envy ownership and am now in a phase less of experimenting / enjoying and just consolidating / savoring. It’s nice to hear about everyone’s preferred driver and power tube pairings. (I suppose I’ll pick up a super awesome 12au7 pair at some point.)

For my WE300Bs - I focus on Quad Brimar or RCA VT-231. Occasionally Ken rad VT-231. Burnt in, they are liquid with great staging even if less extended and less detailed than ER300Bs.

For my ER300Bs - I prefer 1578s but also enjoy Quad Brimar, TSBGRP, and RCA VT-231. (As a point of reference, I listen to rock, acoustic, pop / vocal, occasionally rap and electronic music.)

I would say that I tend to use Utopia with the WE300Bs and I tend to use Susvara for the ER300Bs. I'm completely satisfied with the Envy for these headphones, but when my eggs are scrambled the Atticus on OTL is then my drug of choice.

Hi,

VT-231 SYLVANIA 6SN7GT 33S30B 5692 B65 13D2 CV1988 ECC32

You need to have a good read from the beginning of the 6sn7 identification thread…because your list above encompasses several tube types. Most will go in the 6sn7 position. I know the ECC32 you need to check your amp can accept it, your Envy can, but is reliant on headphone and Gain setting.

I have made a decision... to enjoy a good time of the combination of Perfomance and the Susvara that I like so much...

Time will tell me, if """I need something different""".

I am not quite convinced that 300B Tubes cost 1500-4000 euros... and the improvement is so evident... because I often read very contrary opinions.

Kind regards

Sisco

Yes absolutely - I enjoyed the performance tubes a lot. I could live with them as the only tubes.

The opinions here are exactly that - someone's opinion. I suppose it's the same with anything but there are so many other factors that might make your opinion different when you listen to anything. Source, music Genre, DAC, Cables, headphones...personal preference/expectation...

For me there have been some great suggestions on this thread which I would have never known about otherwise but personally I have never listened to a recommended tube and been disappointed. Because of my personal preference I have sold a few and some are definately keepers.

I would say that I've not heard anything negative about any Elrogs on this thread except I sold my ER version to a fellow head fi user who thought they were a little bright. I have never heard that opinion from anybody else about the ERs but that doesn't mean he is wrong. That just how he heard it.

I would enjoy the Performance tubes for a bit and maybe consider some other options down the line. There are a few comments on the general signature of each tube and combo so maybe just make a note of a few that might fit your preference in the future to give a try. It can drain your wallet ruthlessly!

Enjoy the music. 😉

Is someone using the Takatsuki TA−300B with the Envy?

Yes I use them. Have compared to Full Music, Western Electric and Elrog ER’s. For me Tak’s are far superior, though vastly more expensive. Only tried with stock CV-181’s though.

The stock CV-181’s are good. But my experience with them was in my Feliks Euforia AE.

Edit: Funnily enough, it was changing the powers in the Euforia that gave you the biggest bang for your buck, which seems to be the case with Envy too.

Finally moved to our new home. Setup my gear today.

Thought you would all want some tube porn.
Man the Telefunken G73-R is Melz 1578 dialed to 11. Brutally detailed. Works very well with the TMs which I find a bit warmer than the MOs.

This combo basically gave me an upgraded MO. Hoping for just a slight burn in to mellow it out a tad but I can't imagine how the G73 would sound on the MO. Will need to try out in the future.
