I'm just trying to restrain myself from naming Mick Taylor on his run with the Stones. My answer to every thread on this forum can't be Exile and Sticky Fingers. People will start tuning me out (if they haven't already).

I also happen to think Diblo is our greatest living guitarist, but I didn't want to state that either, for fear people would dismiss me as a crackpot, or worse, an obscurantist. I saw him in a small club in Philly in 1993 and I almost had a heart attack he was so good.

King Sunny Ade is sublime.

I have a new one that I quite like. It is Rodrigo y Gabriela with their self titled album "Rodrigo y Gabriela".
These guys are crazy. They are two very fast fingered Mexicans. They also use their guitars for percussion. Check them out.

I can't match you on Brazil, but I can do South America:

Colombiafrica - The Mystic Orchestra - Voodoo Love Inna Champeta-Land

It's got Diblo, and Dally Kimoko, Sékou Diabaté, Nyboma and Rigo Star. I saw Rigo in LA once. Like most African shows, it started at 1am and went until dawn.
