x2, out of those choices I would go for subway though.

Being a finn I have no clue what: Arby's, Harvey's, Wendy's, A&W are. There also arent any KFC's, Taco Bells, Burger Kings or Dairy Queens in Finland, but I've been abroad enough to know what they are.

same could be said for:

In-N-Out
Good Times
Carl's Jr
Quiznos
Domino's
Panda Express
Wok'n'Roll
Sarku Japan
Muscle Beach
Orange Julius
Taco John's
etc

but, you have to consider the OP is probably living in stereotpyical suburban america, and hasn't been exposed to road trips, or a huge variety of fastfoods, just whats "big"

x3.

In-n-Out is actually older than McDonalds (both were founded in California). They didn't grow as quickly as all stores are owned by the chain, not franchises. The founders were devout Christians and believed in treating their staff fairly, and did not believe in adulterating food. That's why In-n-Out fries are made from actual potatoes cut on-premises, not a core of potato wrapped in wheat starch coated with sugar and synthetic beef fat flavor like McD's.

I'd go with Chic-Fil-A and Whataburger. I've had IN N Out once and enjoyed it. I live in Texas so I don't have one nearby..so I'll go with Whataburger

I don't understand the following that Chic-Fil-A has. I went there one time, and felt utterly ripped off.

...maybe I should (*shudder*) give it a second try?

There's a 5 guys near my work. We order from there sometimes. They do have really great burgers.

For the mainstream list I chose Wendy's though

it isn't as popular where I am (Denver area) as it was where I used to live (Virginia), some people just don't like chicken I guess, but honestly, its an alright place to eat, good waffle fries, alright burgers, prices are ok (better than Carl's Jr or Good Times, worse than McDonalds or BK)

and its Chik-Fil-A
