Hi!

I'm from Portugal and saw this listing on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390192182985&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2109wt_1139

As it said it was sent from Spain, I took the plunge and decided to buy. Only after paying I saw that the seller was from Hong Kong altough the items are sold at genuine item prices.
Also, depending on which ebay site I visited, the item location changed: on portuguese ebay it was in Spain (closest location), in ebay.co.uk was in the UK, etc...

This is the store: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/aabbcc147/_i.html?_nkw=sennheiser&submit=Search&_sid=765289567

Should I be worried? I think so...

What do you think?

Cheers,
Luis

Yeah it sounds like you're screwed.

What I usually do is look at their feedback, if there is even a single negative feedback saying the item was fake in the last year, I won't consider buying from them.

From now on, just read all of the neutral and negative feedback before you buy, and if anything sticks out to you - don't buy it.

I hope I can return them and get my money back. That's the reason why I always pay with PayPal..

I did forward this link to Sennheiser UK.

They told me that normally only the best sellers get faked - and the 555 is now discontinued, anyway.

Maybe that's why you got a good price.

Sennheiser have never seen a fake 500 series yet.

I hope this puts your mind at rest.

I doubt they're fake tbh. No one has ever heard of fake HD555's. And now that they're discontinued, they start making fakes? Nah.
The price is right, they're selling the last stock to make room for the new HD558.

Just to be sure, you can open them up when you get them and check if it also has the black foam at the inside of the grill. I doubt they would go that far into detail when making a fake. And while your at it, you can remove that same foam and voila, you got yourself a brand new HD595. Search for "foam mod" to see all the info.

Just got my new HD555 (30 minutes ago) and they seem and sound pretty genuine to me. Will post some pictures later.

Just did the foam mod and they do sound a little bit better. Every little bit helps! :)

They're great bang for buck cans, enjoy them! And try not to stretch the headband too far when putting them on your head. They tend to crack at the part where you adjust the headband.

I've already read about that issue, so I'm being very careful. But thank you for the heads-up!
