As described I tried a list of full-size, portable headphones and in-ears and I want to share with you guys. I am a bit lazy so I don't want to be the guy who is about to write a thread for hundreds headphones comparison. This thread is more like a Q&A type rather than something heroic. You can collect over 90% information about your target cans as hundreds of reviews are waiting for you online. What I am trying to do is to make up the last 10% uncertainty for you to make the decision. (buy it or not)

All the following headphones have been with me for at least 1 week to 1 month. Most of them are close-back cans. If not specifically pointed out, most of these headphones were running under Macbook or idevice+PHA-1. Actually among full-size headphones, only TH900, TH600 and Denon D5000 were driven by Fostex HP-A8. So I am not so responsible

for other full-size cans such as T70 and T5P. But the sound characters are there and won't be a night-and-day thing under any normal DAC/AMPs. As you know, both Macbook and PHA-1 are balanced and less coloured.

What a general question

Most of 104 cans are worth mentioning though with various characteristic. But if you ask about my favourite ones, I would say a range of......

K545, ES700, W1000, T51P, T70, DT770 Pro 32Ohm, P5, C400, D5000 with TH900 ear pads, Focal spirit one, Focal spirit Classic, Heaven VI, GMP 450, HF-100, VISO HP50/M4U1, XBA-H3, On1, Signature Pro, Signature DJ.

K545                                  balanced and still wide soundstage close to K550
ES700                                sweet female vocal and strong bass
W1000                                sweet female vocal and sweet treble
T51P                                  all-round player
T70                                    clean & beautiful treble
DT770 Pro 32Ohm               widest soundstage for a close can. Yes I mean WIDEST
P5                                      warm vocal, punchy bass
C400                                  crystal clean mid & treble for an in-ear one. Increase a lot with a better DAC/AMP
D5000 w/TH900 ear pads     reduce bass amount, reduce the sharp of treble, given wider soundstage. Perfect level-up
FSO                                   great vocal, guitar and piano performance
FSC                                   soft, warm and smooth. Thick mid like chocolate
Heaven VI                          different vocal presentation like a poison
GMP 450                            typical right sounding can with wide soundstage
HF-100                               best value for me
VISO HP50/M4U1               nice vocal with nice indoor soundstage
XBA-H3                              not as sharp as ex1000, best in-ear for pop music
On1                                    best bass for portable headphones. Good clarity and soundstage.
Signature Pro                      balance, a bit aggressive and cool. Better value than ED8
Signature DJ                       bass-prefer version of S Pro with a bit less aggressive presentation and a bit narrower soundstage than S Pro but still fairly good.

I am talking more about sound characteristic rather than sound quality. Because I believe it would be the priority for most people to choose a pair of headphones especially portable cans and in-ears.
