Exceptional in Every Detail: Say Hello to the IE 600

They say pre-orders are live today, but I see no pre-order available on their website. Maybe it's Asia only pre-order since they are the ones getting it months before everyone else.

This new earphone will be available for pre-order today, March 2nd, with orders in China and Japan shipping March 8th. Europe and North American availability will follow in spring/summer. We will provide availability updates here in this thread. For more information including pricing visit sennheiser.com or contact your local Sennheiser dealer. A Head-Fi Q&A session will follow with a date TBA. We are so excited for you to hear it.

So this is made in China, right? Please don't answer as you did above, "No, it's made in Germany and Ireland". Explain why you would release it first in China (by far more than just a few days, it seems - perhaps weeks), if it's not made there.

Go ahead, explain. Answer the question, don't skirt around it.

There is an absolute zero percent chance in any universe that these are made in anywhere other than where we claim...or even show footage of them being made. There is no Qonspiracy. Just a combination of good people and cool machines making earphones, testing them, and shipping them in boxes from where they were manufactured. Audiophile retail partners in Asia—the largest market for in-ear varieties—have the first batch.

Official note:

Recently, we took the decision to concentrate the majority of our audiophile product manufacturing in Tullamore, Ireland. Bringing transducer manufacture and headset assembly under one roof will help even further increase the quality that our customers know and love - for example, through improved transducer matching.

Nevertheless, the products themselves are still designed and developed in Germany meaning that the core team of engineers who designed and acoustically tuned IE 600 are based in Germany. The housings of IE 600 are 3D-printed and processed by our supplier Heraeus in Germany (only housings, nothing else). Only the final assembly takes place in Ireland meaning that all components are being delivered there for the final assembly.

Crin giving these an A+ pretty much guarantee’s a day-one blind buy from me!

Finding eartips and a cable that gives them a good fit for me will still be somewhat of a challenge, but one worth taking.

Maybe thats why there are so many fake IE900 on a certain Chinese site that starts with an A?

IE 900 is not made in China either. Any successful product with a successful brand attached will be copied, not just earphones. It is quite easy in this age of manufacturing to make something look like the real thing. And it doesn't even have to match the picture of the item. Never buy from a non-authorized retailer if you want the real thing brand new (unless a fellow community member can vouch for the source of goods in a trusted p2p market like Head-Fi). Reward your favorite audiophile dealers with your hard-earned money, not Alibaba or Ali-express.

@crinacle Thank you for the video and rating. Your quote is quite quotable. I don't want to spoil it, but it starts with "BEST...DYN..." ahh I've said too much. [edited to add tag]

OK, Eric. Thanks. That's what I wanted, an explanation. I am mostly into over-ear headphones (my only IEMs are the 800 and 800S direct from Sennheiser) and was not aware that the Far East represents the most lucrative market for in-ears.

What a let down, more iem's.

I have to wear earplugs every night so I can go to sleep because of the lousy neighborhood I live in, barking dogs, etc... I suffer from PTSD and medicated, and music helps, but after so many years(+10yr) wearing earplugs to block noise and use a stereo system with subwoofer to drown the noise of the neighbors(who don't care) with brown smooth noise, you can't imagine the pain I've gone thru of wearing things in my ear canal...

Why not maybe a good headphone that above the HD800 S or HD650 and HD820? Why?

Is IE600 better for watching movies or IE900? Can you please explain? Thank you
Without taking any of your other listening needs into consideration, and as someone who has both, I'd pick the IE 600 for movies. It has a bit more bass heft for the 'splosions and engaging vocals for intelligibility of the buried dialogue in the dark alley scenes (just prior to the 'splosions). Stereo location is great on both, detail retrieval is great on both, and did I mention the 'splosions?

So this is it? IE 600 and then no more products ever? You may not need an in-ear from Sennheiser right now, but this is one small slice of life in a portfolio that will grow. Today is the IE 600's day so we're going to let it have some sunshine.

IE 300 ordered. Hopefully
I realized some parts of the Headfonia review are kind of contrary to Crin’s review. The Headfonia review says the mids are less pronounced than the IE900? That is kind of confusing?
“Technically the mids are on the same level as the bass section. Good, but not as pronounced as in the IE 900.”

It’s the second line that throws me off. I found the mids of IE 900 to be somewhat recessed in relation to the bass. Meanwhile the rest of the review suggests the IE 600 is more balanced....

I think I’m overthinking it, I just need to get these in my ears.
