Zidoo/Eversolo released v1.2.95 (possibly now v1.2.96 per info in their forum) for the A8.

This firmware along with a recent ROON update now makes the DMP-A8 finally ROON READY.

I just got the update this morning. Updated to 1.2.98 via over the air update. I can confirm it's now Roon ready.

Seems like lots of varying opinions on the A8. On paper it looks ideal for what I am looking for.

I don't care about its internal DAC. I want it for its streaming support to feed a better quality external DAC (Harmony Laiv or Audial S5b) via I2S.

Also the preamp feature is great. I can then feed the external dac output back into the A8 via XLR and use its stepped, analog volume control to control gain for a pair of AGD Audion Ganfet mono block amps from a remote control.

The touch display is a bonus with those meters.

I have already ripped my CD collection into flats, which will nicely load into the NVME so I don't have to store it on my laptop.

Really great set of features that meet my needs in 1 box, so I don't have box sprawl.

There is one behaviour that’s been bugging me with this Eversolo. I noticed after playing a complete album, and nothing else in the queue, the last track gets played back repetitively. I was doing something else while the music was playing and thought "Man, this song is a long one!", only to realize it was just repeating itself each time.

Is there a setting somewhere to stop this behavior? I only take action when there's silence in the room, brain disengages when audio is heard.

I’ve looked in settings of ROON, Audirvana Remote, JPlay, and Eversolo iOS app. Doesn’t matter what’s used for control, playback issue is still same.

Anyone else notice this? Maybe happens with A6 as well?

I used the A8 with a Gustard R26 and Burson soloist 3xGT. I've actually now moved the A8 to a different system without a separate DAC as I really like the AKM dac of the A8.

The build in dac of the A8 is nice for the money yes. Shame I never use it, only using it as a very decent streamer. I would have wished the A8 had a bigger screen then the a6’s

I am more of a fan of chord dacs. But decent akm implementations certainly second. Never ESS, hate what thise chips produce, the day has to come I have heared a good sounding implementation, always flat sounding.

Try a tt2 stand alone, or a chord qutest with amp(like a violectric more smooth or burson more air/sparkle). the A8 is one of the better sources available for the money

(I sold my 7 months hifirose rs130, after getting a a8, saved me money, software is better and the a8 is cheaper)

Hmm have to check if I have that behaviour too, also with Roon? Because there Roon is the controller not the A8?

I'll have to double check ROON again when I can. When I wrote comment it was after using Audirvana app through A8. I'll be curious as to what your findings are.

I would say A8, good software or something like hifirose or auralic
