After much success of the DMP-A6. Behold its big brother the DMP-A8. Talked already on the DMP-A6 thread, might as well create a dedicated page for it.

The DMP-A8 is a brand new audio product created by Eversolo, and it’s capable of almost everything, combining Music Streamer, DAP, DAC, and Preamp all in one device.
Supports nearly all ultra-high sampling master recording formats available in the market, including CD-quality formats (FLAC, WAV, APE), DSD512 (.dsf/.dff/.iso/.dst) stereo/multichannel and etc.

Utilizes the self-developed EOS (Eversolo Original sampling-rate audio engine), supporting output at all audio original sampling rates. In other words, any audio playback can entirely bypass the Android SRC limitation, supporting the Direct audio passthrough of third-party apps (Such as Apple Music hi-res Direct output).

His YouTube review was pretty interesting. Sounds like a promising 3-in-1 unit. Agree with him that the manufacturer should avoid the SMSL and Topping madness with constant new hardware versions and to stick with relatively the same thing and see software improvements instead of new models. I own the A6 and it's a great device.

Hmm, this is probably a weird ask, but since the A8 can be a DAC, pre-amp, and player, I wonder if it is possible to play to an external DAC, but then have the external DAC output back into the analog inputs on the A8, and the A8 to then act as the pre-amp at the same time? The reason is that then any amp downstream can be connected just to the A8's analog outputs, and the user can get a choice of two DACs. Use the A8's internal DAC sometimes, but also have an R2R DAC or a super-analytical ESS DAC as an alternative option.

Also, the product page shows that there's a DSP suite in the A8. Parametric EQ, loudness correction, compressor (but no expander?), and delay. That doesn't seem to be present on the A6, and it appears to affect most inputs. Very interesting...

Gustard A26 has that 4191 DSP chip on its twin 4499EX but haven't dived much on its functions as much as Eversolo. Missed opportunity.

I have the impression that there is a third chip on the A8, "AK7738/9(AVQ)" ? for the DSP

The rear of the unit shows "Digital Out" which would feed the signal to an external DAC. I do the same with my Wiim Pro to my Bifrost 2/64.

So other than the DAC chip used, DSP and the extra connection options, what would be the reason to get the A8 over the A6? It's more than double the price of the A6 where I live :/
