Budget is up to $350-400.

I am looking to get more bass out my rock music. I listen to bands like in flames, disturbed, system of a down, sleeping with sirens, devil wears Prada, escape the fate etc. Right now everything sounds great except the bass. Ideally I would love to have the Er4p with more bass.

I will be using either a ttvj slim or the ttvj miller portable hybrid as my portable amp. Music will be primarily played on either my phone (EVO 3d) or my ipod (non touch, 120gb). All the music will be 320kbps or higher.

I've looked at the mdr-ex600, mdr-ex1000, westone um3x but haven't come to a solid conclusion as to what would be decent.

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, there are nothing out there that are as detailed as ER4P with bigger bass, I think you might have to go custom.

Though Brainwavz B2 and UE700 both are almost as detailed as ER4, but with punchier bass

You could always try turning up the bass in EQ

Digital EQ is pretty much transparent these days, just make sure to turn down the preamp setting to prevent clipping.

For around $100 you can get your hands on the ZO V2 . This will definately put the umph.....into your Ety's. Not too much to pay to put a smile on your face.

Ditto. You need not look past the Zo in my opinion. My very own Zo (V1) worked like a charm with my ER4S.

The Zo2 is just a plain ol' amp with a fancy hardware EQ built in.  If you're already amping the etys, they can take plenty of bass boost using software EQ on any of your players.  Should even be more "transparent" using software EQ--again, just make sure to turn down the preamp setting to prevent clipping.

Something to think about:  get the Zo V.2 -- it has bass boost plus an amp section to give your ER4 some needed power and bass.  Then sell your TTVJ amp and pocket a good bit of $$!  Merry Christmas!

Definitely Grado GR10 !

It is an ER4 with better bass and soundstage, period.

The GR10 has the same treble energy and detail as the ER4?

Try changing the tips first.  I use Klipsch double-flange tips with my Etys.

They can be inserted deeper into the ear canal, resulting in much stronger bass.

If you are leaning towards customs you may want to check out the Heir Audio 4a.  I haven't seen any reviews on the 4a yet as Heir Audio is new on the scene (there are threads on the 8a and 3a), however after doing some research and emailing Dr. Moulton I decided to order the 4a, they have been described as the er4p but with the bass that the er4p lacks.

While you do lose a little bit of detail (after all, the only thing that can sound like an Ety....is an Ety), I upgraded/sidegraded from the ER4P to the Earsonics SM3 v1. I personally find that while they are not as accurate (debatable), they sound more "natural" or "musical," at least to my ears. YMMV. The isolation is almost as good, especially with the P-series Comply foamies. They will muffle the treble if they are not inserted deep enough (and you must let them fully expand before listening).
