Why nobody speaks of the velour pads? I have read only a few remarks. I tried to avoid switching pads because I quite like what I heard but I am curious.

I actually switched to the velour pads, I can't tell you right now the difference between the pads since it's been a few months ago I did that and it was a pain for me to put these pads on.Why nobody speaks of the velour pads? Possibly an open or closed ZMFWhich TOTL headphone would you say complements Charybdis?
I have the E3 which I love.Possibly an open or closed ZMF
If you only want closed headphones and the „same“ sound character, then DCA Noire X.
I've got them in black also. So much nicer looking. They sound great on my zT+A HA200 and my Astell&Kern SE300 dap.I Just got a Cayin N30LE DAP with the Amber Pearl IEM combo. it replace now my A&K SP1000 + TheAudio monarch mk2.
This combo really sound better, and the N30LE can be very powerful.
I am now looking for a full size headphone to use with it when I am NOT on the go.
I have on my list : Camerton Audio Binom-ER, Final D8000 pro, Grado GS3000X, HE1000 Stealth, Dan Clark Audio Stealth and.... the Erzetich Charybdis
I will try to test the Erzetich Charybdis with my Cayin DAP....
Anyone tested it with a DAP ?
BTW, the (very) limited Black édition looks really better, expecially with the conectors attached to the cup.

I can only imagine how good the Charybdis are. I have just received the Phobos from a friend and these things are amazing!!!!!!!i think these may be the next headphones i aim for. right now im fixing to get the mjolnir 3 amplifier for my hifiman he1000se and i think it would pair fairly with the charybdis down the line. i like to listen to big, swelling, orchestral music with subtle details and large staging as the primary qualities i seek for in headphone. on other genres of music and media, i like exciting bass. going by what i've read in this thread, i'll give the ZMF caldera a try too when possible.
They are indeed very good. I already listen to these for 3 months and I do not want to change anything. After some cable switching I settled on the FAW Noir MK2 copper one. I think I needed around 300 hrs to feel I got used with them, everything smoothened and they became quite linear. I think in these 3 months I reached around 1000 hrs on them and I still consider them excellent value and very good sounding. I did not had courage to swap earpads and check how are velour vs fake leather but I might do this one day. In my case I do not keep several headphones, I just keep one and listen to it until I am bored about it, but with a tube amp and Charybdis I never got bored.I can only imagine how good the Charybdis are. If your suspicion proves to be correct, thanks for pointing out the ruthless rip off pricing in high end hifi from almost every brand in the Western World these days.On its website, Erzetich states that their drivers are supplied by a 3rd party manufacturer. My guess is it is a China manufacturer (probably Monolith who has drivers with very similar spec). I am a bit disappointed because a pair of Monolith headphones is selling at a tenth of Charybdis' price

Which Monolith headphone are you comparing Charybdis with?
Cheers CC
And on the official website of Charybdis, under “the story”, it says “We had the chance to test brand-new experimental drivers from our supplier. They asked us if we were interested in testing their prototypes”M1060
Similar size 105mm vs 106mm and 50 ohm vs 46 ohm
Both do not share their sensitivity data
Is your guess based on reddit post? I saw something similar for Phobos drivers being from Monolith over there. On its website, Erzetich states that their drivers are supplied by a 3rd party manufacturer. Quite interesting price difference there ,250 USD against Erzetich's 2500? Where I live the best price I could find for the Charybdis was aroundM1060
