Just ordered my Charybdis today direct from Erzetich. After a bit of fuss with the credit card company not approving a PayPal transaction to Slovenia, all went through OK. Now the wait begins...Excited...
I ordered black of course.
Can't wait to compare it to my AB1266.
Ordered Thursday, arrived Saturday morning. Great Service!
First impressions: neutral, spacious and fun.
Also I'm informed by my partner that these leak sound much more than any of my other headphones and it's annoying.

Question how do you do it with the cable for the Charybids? I've had it for a few months now and the standard cable is already showing signs of malfunction. I only use it at home on my amplifier (6.5 mm connection). But I feel a little screwed. The connection of the Charybids is very unique and I cannot find a connector to convert the 4pin XLR into a standard 3.5mm. The only thing I find is a part where you have to solder the cable into it and I'm not that handy. Have any of you found a connector so that you are not dependent on the 4 pin connection but can simply buy a 3.5 mm cable?
I live in the Netherlands so it would be great if the solution can be send to here.
Then 4-pin mini xlr is used by quite a few manufacturers. You can have custom cables for the Charybdis made by Headphone Auditions Amsterdam or you can buy a Meze (empyrean) cable from mezeaudio.eu, they use the same 4-pin xlr connectors. I have the HAA cable and it's great. I know of no adaptors. Hope that helps?

The day I bought the Charybdis I ordered an aftermarket XLR cable from Corpse Cables. It is Cardas copper, not microphonic, and of excellent build quality. I bought a 4pin XLR to 4.4 pentaconn adapter off of Amazon. I use the included 6.35mm adapter from Erzetich. The Sennheiser 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter is very good. Meze Empyrean and LCD use the same connectors as Erzetich.
Your only alternative is to have a custom built XLR to 3.5mm adapter buy someone like Corpse Cables or Moon Audio. I'd make it at least 12 inches long as the XLR connector is pretty heavy. That way you can set the XLR connection on a table and not risk putting stress on the 3.5mm jack of the source. Or you can just buy a dual mini XLR to 3.5mm aftermarket cable.
Totally agree, but this is a backup in case the other one breaks. The thing is, I'm sitting 10 feet from my accuphase. And I also want to test it with my Sony A306. This is easier with a short cable.
Stefan from HAA can make you cables any length and any connectors. I have the cotton candy for the Empyrean which also works for the Charybdis. I have two cables like this, one long cable with an XLR for my amp, and one shorter one with a 2.5mm for my DAP. The cables are mid-price and last long. I'm sure there are many other good cable manufacturers but Stefan is in the Netherlands so you can visit him if you want.
I've noticed you have HE1000 Stealth! I'm thinking of snagging a pair but wondering if it's a worthwhile upgrade from the Arya Stealth. If you/anyone have listened to both It would be great to hear your impressions.
However my ultimate goal is to snag the Charybdis one day but wanted something to fill in the gap for a while.

I'm like you - ultimate goal is the Charybdis. But yes, HEK Stealth is significant upgrade to Arya Stealth. Even a decent upgrade from Arya Organic! HEK are more detailed, less treble-focussed, better (natural) timbre. These are slightly behind the HEK SEs. ANd yes, I have AB'd all of the above. In terms of quality - Arya Stealth, Arya Organic, HEK Stealth, HEK SE.
