The JOAL is meant to be different from the rest of the Abyss lineup in that it is easier to drive, still has most of the detail Abyss are known for, but more of an enjoyable listening experience.
That's why I'm waiting on buying, to see if anyone will get the chance to compare them because they're both meant to be enjoyable musical all rounders with good to great soundstage.

With my Erzetich Charybdis I have gone back to using the included XLR balanced cable on my Dave dac. I did not like having to use the SE to XLR supplied converter before as it used additional wires which may degrade the signal so put it back in the box. I have just received an Adapter specifically designed for the Dave dac that has no wires, just straight high quality silver solder on connector pins only.
Thought I would put this on here for any Dave dac owners with Charybdis using the Dave amp.

Just finished 2 days of Canjam experience in Singapore. It was my first one, and a lot of fun.
I got to try my Charybdis with Cayin Soul 170, Viva egoista 845 and Mass Kobo 465, and compare against Raal Immanis and Susvara OG. 30 min each on Viva and Cayin, and an hour (30 + 30) on MK.
1) it reconfirmed that I just don't like the Immanis sound .. previously I had experienced it on Ferrum stack so wasn't sure, but after trying with Viva 845, am sure. Just doesn't sound natural to me
2) it confirmed that while Charybdis is easy to drive, it does scale well with higher end amps like Viva and MK. Could hear more details, more timbre/weight on instruments etc.
3) owning the Charybdis, I didn't see the need for Susvara OG, though I again very much enjoyed listening to it on all the amps. Charybdis seems to have less space between the instruments, and Susvara feels more balanced.. but overall I enjoyed Charybdis more..maybe coz I am more used to it
4) it reconfirmed that IEM scene is super exciting right now.. it was much more fun trying out different iems.. which provide superb sound with much lower stack requirements

I don't recall soundstage as a big differentiator between these two headphones.. meaning I didn't notice any material difference on that front when swapping between the two on MK465
the soundstage of mine was quite large probably slightly larger than the susvara....I liked my charybdid a lot as an easy to drive HP but the susvara is better without much qualification
