I'll leave the rabbit ears for another day but they are a very interesting driver series for Ultimate. I have such a high regard for them after listening to GEC, Mullard, Russian and Shuguang rabbit ears.

The Russian and chinese rabbit ears sound more brash and aggressive. They lean more towards the high frequencies and are leaner. This might appeal to some and it did appeal to me. Mullard is the warmest and lushest of the 4. GEC is just the fine quality tube that it is. I could enjoy all 4 depending on what power tubes I combine them with.

I throw in about $300 worth of NOS tubes. Also comes with 6sn7 adapter

My other Ultimate is Matt’s previous wooden chassis ultimate.

I don’t mind which Ultimate I keep for they are both fantastic, but I feel the silver Ultimate is easier to move on due to price.

Keep the Junior Wooden Ultimate. It's a better made Ultimate imo, amongst all other Ultimates.

This is for all Ultimaters. You might as well learn about 6y6, 6v6, 6f6, 6w6, 6k6 as these are your bread and butter power tubes and some of them can even be used as driver tubes.

Has anybody compared the ST style 6F6S tubes to the tubular GT style 6F6M1?

Todays driver roll is the mighty Mazda 6N7G (Visseaux):

In the olden Elise/Euforia days we felt that that these drivers provided "a wall of sound."

These tubes were often rebranded. Here is a picture of the distinctive massive multiple heat radiators that identifies these types:

Sounds good - have to wait to see if I prefer the G or GT version.

A Marconi looks like a Brimar in the pictures.
It might be worth comparing them.
The brand is rather essential.
