I'm listening with Susvara and Odyssey on Beck's Morning album. I wonder what I am smoking that I neglect this setup for the last month. All I had are Shuguang KT88-Z Thousand Treasures in there.

It's an uphill battle because as soon as I go back to Grado and Ultimate, I am a happy vegemite again. :xf_cool: I get what you are hearing @Leicachamp. I understand now why you got rid of Utopia, Final D8000 and that megabuck Riviera AIC-10 amp when you hear your Grado with Ultimate.

Perfect. I don't hear much difference between 6y6g and 6y6ga. I haven't tried 6y6gt but I have tried 6w6gt and it's similar sounding. So you are good to go with that.

What 6y6 tubes is Eric giving you?

Eric just told me that he is about to flick on the power switch for Nick's amp. :dt880smile: He's so excited.

I can pick it up tomorrow. Will schedule a meet up with Nick earlier. I'm sure he's dying to get his amp.

In the words of Eric...

switched ON, All look good now. measure the voltage and current fine. and sound from speaker sings well, Insert the Grado to check.. Wow, there is no different if the Grado is inserted or NOT, the same quietness.... I am OK with the amp

:thumbsup: :wink::beerchug:

I don't think I asked him exactly what they were except that he mentioned they were 6y6G.

They arrived the day before yesterday and I'll be listening to them at Euforia this weekend. They are new.

The Brimar from Langerex also arrived, as did the 6bw4 Dumont.
I've already got everything I ordered together.

Those Raytheon 6y6g black glass looks exactly like the GE 6y6g black glass. These are wonderful sounding tubes.

I might be trying out other rectifiers soon. Eric suggest these other rectifiers - 6V4, EZ80, EZ81.

The amp is wired OK to use 6V4, EZ80, EZ81... Note these tubes are NOT pin compatible with the provided 6BW4, but the amp is wired that the amp can use all these tubes.

No adapter is needed. as I hard wire the amp to use these : 6bW4, 6V4, EZ80, EZ81 ( EZ81 is a bigger tube, and the filament current is a bit higher than the others, the UltimatE can handle)

The dog doesn't care if it's windmill, solar or battery powered. He's more interested in a steak !
… if the tube has ‘filamignons’ in it, he’s all ears teeth 🤣.

If you're ever in doubt about using 6y6, 6w6, 6f6, 6v6, this is what Eric has to say...

I test UltimatE with 6W6 and 6F6... they can work in UltimatE all good... As for working voltages ranges ( current needed related ) from low voltage to high the range is 6Y6, 6W6, 6F6, and 6V6.

So the 6W6 and 6F6 are between 6Y6 and 6V6.... and so many 6?6 make us confusing but they all work OK in UltimatE.
