2 pairs of Fonon 6F6M1 metal base, one 6F6S and 4 x 6P14P are on it's way to me. This room will be jam-packed with tubes.

Already started! Will share first draft later tonight (California time).
Isn't California time like a week behind Aussie time? 🤣

There is one last tube in my stash that I haven't tried. Checking with Eric now but I doubt I can use it....

the description says

Dev. for government use; "particularly used for underwater sound" (sonar?}. Announced by RCA 1942

Duotriode, low-distortion high-µ Class B type, low-heater-current, T9 bulb on octal base; heater 6.3V @ 600 mA, µ 65, 3.3 W

I think I will blow up Ultimate with this.

Maybe Handel‘s Water Music will sound even better?

Just put in the Telefunken EL156 on Ultimatt for the first time and I'm in for a bit of shock. Frankenstein is finally coming out of the closet. The amp is burning in and it's more than just EL11 sounding great now. :k701smile:

I haven't been rolling all my power tubes on the wooden Ultimate. Only on the silver Ultimate. I have to go through that exercise again because what I'm hearing is a different beast now. Burn in, burn in baby !

It's tsunami bass on EL156 ! This will show 300b out the door.

Oops cancels thoughts of ordering a 300B now.

Luke Skywalker meeting with Master Yoda.

Met up with Eric. Saw @Deleeh chassis primed and ready to go. Just waiting on the power transformer next Wed. I have missed the silver Ultimate. Both Ultimates played so well with Eric's speakers.

I brought Susvara for Eric to have a listen. He said it sounded like speakers. :k701smile: He likes the Fivre 6A6 and Telefiunken EL11 in Ultimatt. Very clear, open sound with throbbing bass on his speakers with volume up.

1st pair of tubes to go in on 10th June 2023.

GEC A2900 and RCA 6L6 metal. Stop what you're doing ! This is a dynamite combination. Sell everything and buy a pair of 6L6 metal. No kidding here. Tonally it's incisive, slam like MJ's dunk, moonwalk like MJ, bass that will make 'Bass Monsters' proud.

How fortunate I am that I can just 'borrow' Eric's tubes to listen. To be returned in 1 year's time.

Got from Eric his test tracks of georgian chants, big drums, audiophile vocals, instruments on a CD. I'm impressed at his test tracks. I am going to make them mine.

I'm starting to enjoy playback on speakers from Ultimate. It's as enjoyable as Susvara. I would suggest those on the queue to include speaker outputs since it's included. This amp drives speakers very well, as long as they are not demanding speakers.

I had this conversation with Eric. Both of us have a preference for the 6*6gt over the 6*6g. The gt version has better definition and is tighter in tone. It's personal preference I guess.

I have in Ultimate now GEC A2900 and Ken Rad 6F6 metal. Again a superb pairing. It seems every combination plays very well in Ultimate. Finding the 10 ten is going to be a challenge.

I made a switch from GEC A2900 to Fivre 6A6 and definitely prefer the 6A6. Everything about the tone is bigger now. It's grown in dimension. This is a discovery for me. The 6A6 has been my preferred driver for the last 3 days. No doubt the 6N7 and 6N7G will be the same.

I'm thinking an ECC31 will do wonders. :)
