Empire Ears Athena Impressions Thread

Thanks SGS. I'm getting the Angie next. Would you be able to compare it and Athena based on memory?

I think Athena and Angie would share some similarities, in that both excel with vocals and are on the mid centric side of things. Of course Angie can be tuned to have less bass, similar bass or more bass depending on taste. Angie treble was good tonally but a bit rolled off. I'm thinking Athena probably extends a bit further but I'm not sure, as I didn't have them side by side.  I was pretty impressed with Athena's clarity over the Legend R, but I can't really say if it has greater clarity than Angie.  Angie is really good with low level resolution, texturing and imaging. Unfortunately I can really say how Athena competes here- too much time in between. But tonally I think they are going to have a lot of similarities.

Thanks again. I would guess that tonally both the Angie and the Athena would not be far off just slightly different flavours. Soundstage and imaging, I'm a fan of the JH sound as they do this dept very well, sometimes even headphone-like.

This time I'm taking notice of the Athena bcos I nearly pulled the trigger on the Legend R. Once I have the finances this could be my next toy. Mids man needs his mids. If I'm very content with the Angie and feel that it's mids satisfy me enough, might look into the Apollo instead.

Very happy with the Athena as well. Had an opportunity to get either an Apollo or the Athena but the I liked the Athena more. Thanks to the guys here and the EE thread especially moedawg140 and shotgunshane. Your commemts and impressions helped a lot too as I am very new to IEMs.

Welcome and congratulations!  The Athena is one of my favorite in-ears from the Empire Ears lineup.  Yours looks amazing!

Congrats again, and enjoy!
