I would imagine that will change once he gets away from them stock tubes. Did your b52 have stock tubes in it?

I was eyeing B52 for long time, but did not buy it due to the price. Anyway, I did buy a set of Tompson 5687 made in france, not sure they are good or bad sounding......

Buy the used B52 in the FS, then we can have a show down.

Found this website that retails KR tubes.

http://www.worldsbesttubes.com/tube%20msrp%20list.html

Interesting tube selection from KR.

KR 300B - $922.00
KR 300B Balloon - $984.60
KR 300BXLS - $1109.81

KR PX-4 - $899.23

Now i know that Craig highly recommends the PX-4 tube .. but i was just wondering if anyone has tried any of the other type of KR 300B variants especially given that the PX-4 tube is the cheapest of them all ...

I am sure you did not mean BA sound thin, surprise to know B52 sound fuller compare to BA......

Yes I was surprised as well. I really expected the BA to be more to my liking based on the design and it is with the HE-5LE (which I just sold)  and CD3000. The BA does not sound thin at all but at the time I wrote my previous post I preferred the B-52 to the BA ever so slightly with the HD800. I have Tung Sol 5687 output tubes and Raytheon 12BH7A input tubes in the B-52 and really like this combo after much tube rolling. The BA now has a pair of Sophia Princess PX4 and a Tung Sol 68FG and until I get my KR PX4 from Craig this is the tube compliment I like best. The PX4 is a really nice sounding tube and I can see why Craig recommends it. With this tube compliment the BA is really sounding great.

I have the KR 300B and really liked it in the BA compared to the stock EH 300B's that came with my amp. My previous post in this thread has a picture of my BA with the KR 300B tubes.

If you like the sophia Px4, you should love the Kr px4. This is what craig said about them. You may want to try the EAT 300b also. Talked with people and they say they will match up to any nos 300b out there. Suppose to be fast, balanced, and have great dynamics.

Yes I used the Sophia mesh PX-4 and I have the KR-PX4 here as well. The Sophia is more like a 45 tube, with a higher plate resistance than a NOS PX-4. The KR has deeper bass, and a richer sound. The KR is by far the better tube, but it is costly.

The tungsols arent that much compared to the Marconi/osram B65.  $400 - 700 each. That is why I hope they arent the best. It could get expensive stock piling those.

Used ones start off at about $400 even if they are untested and sold as is on a ebay auction. Nos ones are rare and are easily 700 a pop.
