Yes 307A version.There were quite a few in the UK for pretty low price so I grabbed a bunch of them

Yes .. i originally placed an order for a the 307A but i was discouraged to do so by Craig citing supply issues with the 307A tubes. So i changed my order to the 300B/PX4 variant. Before i changed my order though i did manage to pick up 4x 307A tubes from ebay thinking this is the way i was going to go. I might still acquire (one day) a 307A amp. I was thinking perhaps picking up a 2nd hand TTVJ-307A headphone amp which i believe he no longer makes.
 
Now my "only" problem is trying to source some KR PX-4 tubes which are meant to be superior sounding than any 300B tube available. But the advantage of this configuration is that should PX4 valves ever "dry up in supply" you will always have the 300B option to fall back to. Whereas with the 307A you don't have that option as i understand it.
 
I would be very interested though to read an A/B review between AD1, 307A, KR PX-4 and the best 300B amp configuration. I guess it is the case that no one is better than the other .. it all depends on how you like your music served up to you.

My BA has arrived this Friday, but it did not come out any sound when I set it up, so does any BA owner who lives in SF or bay area can help me to test or resolve this issue, thanks

I've been listening with the HE5-LE out of the 4-pin balanced connector and am impressed. These headphones need plenty of juice and my B-52 and Fisher 400 just didn't cut it. The BA drives the HE5-LE very well with plenty of power. I replaced the stock newer Tung Sol 6SN7 and EH 300B tubes with a NOS Sylvania chrome top 6SN7 and KR 300B tubes. Big improvement over stock. I'll get the PX4 from Craig maybe by the end of the month but until then I'm really happy with this setup.

Cool...another BA in SF! 
Could help with any questions you have but it should be a straightforward setup.
I have the AD1 version so we could do a shootout whenever you have time

I talked with Craig this morning, he said "OK the amp appears to be good, but lost a connection to the left side of the headphone jack".
 
So I need to send my BA back to him next Monday. I hope I can get it back soon.

The HD800 sounds great with both amps. If the HD800 were my only headphones I would be very happy with either amp. That being said I have a very slight preference for the B-52 on the HD800's. I prefer the BA with every other dynamic headphone I own but the HD800 really sounds good on the B-52. If you asked me to do a blind A/B test between the 2 amps I wouldn't be able to tell them apart but with long term listening as of today I would prefer the B-52 for the HD800. The sound is just a little fuller with a perceived bigger soundstage. This is of course with the current tubes in my BA. When the PX-4 tube arrives my opinion may be different.

Sounds really great with a NU 6F8G.I am sticking with the Raytheon 307A's that Craig supplied for the moment
