Hey guys, based on popular demand EarSonics is planning on making the S-EM9 available with 2-pin connectors. If I understand correctly it will be alongside mmcx.
Yes you can choose between either 2-pin or mmcx. I don't know about Kumitate's 'experiment' as you say, but other companies have been offering it as well, like AAW for instance.
Thanks for suggestion- I will probably try- no trouble getting them to stay on?
I like the aurisonics tips but they're too sticky and pull of the nozzle when I remove the headphones, staying in my ear.
Also cut the smaller flange off the grey stock tips and that works ok for me.
Anyone tried Spinfits? Just saw that Fiio will be distributing them now, maybe won't have to wait two months for import shipping now.

Go for ortofon then I think you will be very happy. I and my friend using ortofon tips with sem-9. Ortofon size s/m/l , I am using medium size , my friend using small size and we both happy , I think ortofon hybrid silicon tips will great for you too.
Nozzle size effect the sound I guess , with Earsonics velvet spinfit tips perfect , but when I tried with Earsonics S-em9 , I hated from sem9 some shielding (screening) there and very bad really. Like I said bought almost every tips , If you buy ortofon will be happy and like your sem9 again and again.

You are not kidding around when it comes to tips, that is an impressive collection. You've persuaded me, I ordered the tips. I was a bit bummed out that shipping is just as much as the tips, but such is life I guess. EarSonics will also be releasing a different set of official tips for the S-EM9 and Velvet btw.
Speaking of Ortofon, I recently received the ec7s cable from Dimitri. I can see why he had the confidence to send one for promotion; I'm pleasantly surprised and can be rather picky when it comes to cables.
The cable looks nicer in real life than on the small images. The bottom end below the splitter is shielded for instance, after the splitter it's just a single wire. I hadn't noticed it before. The shielding looks good, it gives it a nice quality finish. The connectors are a big large and chunky for my taste with 'Ortofon' written on it, but overall I find the cable looks very appealing. I'll try to make a nice high res pic later today.
More importantly, concerning its sound: There's an improvement in the control of the mid-bass, maybe it's slightly attenuated; this improves the clarity in the midrange and treble, lifting a bit of a veil off the midrange. The mid/upper treble regions also opened up a bit more, giving just that extra bit of sparkle and treble extension - giving a nudge to its overall resolution. The opened-up treble accentuates the S-EM9's slight U-shaped signature a bit more though; but more importantly, it just feels clearer and more precise. These differences might be slight, but are noticeable. It just gives the S-EM9 a bit more of a high end finish in looks and sound, without changing its signature drastically. I think the price/value ratio is excellent at $140.
