EarSonics' two flagships: the universal S-EM9, and new custom EM10.

Hi. Can anyone compare the S-EM9 with Westone W60? Especially the bass section. Thanks!
To me W60 produces a lot of upper and mid bass. I'm looking for a more neutral IEM in this regard. Is this the case?

From my memory (I had both Iems) S-EM9 has better quality bass, going deeper. Also, separation and transparency is way better. W60 is nice Iems, but S-EM9s are just the step above. Sold them both, cause I am in love with AK T8ie dynamic sound signature.

Thanks. I tried many dynamic IEMs like Flare Audio and others and switched back to BA type again due to a better details retrieval.

I have listened to the T8ie too - from my memory they sounded pretty good but the bass was not tight enough. I believe they need a long burn-in. But I will definitely try them one more time.

I am not sure it's so much detail retrieval than separation where BA do have an edge, Flare R2 Pro has nice details, IE800 had great detail retrieval. It might be that their more holistic signatures makes it less apparent. I didn't keep the T8ie long enough maybe... they're overpriced IMHO (reliability issues...).

I am a big fan of dynamic drivers in IEMs, but you don't get many dynamic TOTLs. Rhapsodio Galaxy might be the end game here, from what I hear and it sure is not shy on details apparently :P

One thing is sure the S-EM9 has plenty of details, especially low level detail retrieval is very good.

Yeah I think they can be tuned either way, BA or dynamic (for instance dynamic Ocharaku Flat-4 are some of the most detailed IEMS I have heard).

Nozzle size effect the sound I guess , with Earsonics velvet spinfit tips perfect , but when I tried with Earsonics S-em9 , I hated from sem9 some shielding (screening) there and very bad really. Like I said bought almost every tips , If you buy ortofon will be happy and like your sem9 again and again.

I bought 2 sets.

Got the Ortofon tips, stay on the nozzle and very comfortable. On first impression I think I prefer the sound with the biflanges (what I am used to) but the Ortofons are so much more comfortable I think I can adjust. I have found that Zero Audio tips fit the nozzles well also with good sound (they have narrow bore), though Ortofon's material is less irritating. Thanks for recommendation

I'm loving these still. No desire to upgrade/side-grade.  Using them with Pioneer DAP and getting  a great balance sound, excellent low end without bleed, maybe a little rolled off at the top but nothing OTT and certainly better than my sem6 in this respect.

If I could find a full size headphone with an equivalent presentation then I think I'd be done!  Any one know one?

Just one more question if I may

I find W60 bass a bit slow than needed to my taste (slower than Um Pro 30) and quantity wise it is too much sometimes depending on the music type / sub-genre.
How about the bass speed and quantity in S-EM 9 in comparison? Thank you in advance.

The bass is the most critical thing for me. I can live with other things like narrow soundstage or forwarded mids and so on but the bass should be fast and not thick or boomy.
As an example, S-EM6 are too bassy for my taste.

Great! So what's your first impressions? Any comparison with other IEM's you own today/in the past? Thanks.

I seriously consider them along with CA Jupiter/Andromeda.
Selling my W60 out.

Selling my W60 out.

Soundwise after an hour, impressions are very good. First thing that comes to mind : nimble. Delicate with good clarity and excellent speed an dynamics. You see on my profile I have tried almost everything out there. From memory of the W60, I do prefer the EM9 dynamics.

I am interested in the Andromeda, but would like post-hype impressions.
