Earsonics Hybrid "Stark" and "Blade"....

What do you mean?

The only Earsonics IEM that does have a semi positive rating is the EM3 "Non-fatiguing, relaxing listen. "Normal" but it has been so widely acclaimed it's hard to take down :p

One example is the EM10, I find it odd to emit a definitive judgment and rating based on a demo that I know doesn't sound like the real thing (this very unit that was used I A/B'ed with my own custom, as a friend owns it). That plus the fact the summary of the supposed signature is totally off if there is something that the EM10 has not is "Oddly low dynamics makes this sound rather dead and lifeless." that's one that always make me laugh really as it couldn't be farther from the truth. EM64 "Weirdly incoherent and disjointed. Good warmth, though." Oh my...

Even the intro of his Blade and Stark "write up" is not hiding a bias "there are some oddities that this French company will stubbornly cling onto even if it meant losing their grasp on the ever-evolving demands of the young porta-fier"... or "It has the house sound, it has the weirdness, it has all the quirks and features that any loyal Earsonics fan has come to know and love over the years." Blade and Start have the same rating summary "Typical Earsonics house sound of "screwed up midrange", now with DD bass."

The same pattern that negatively applies to Earsonics seems to be inversely proportional to say the Sony love, which I have not problem with - we all have our preferences - until you start writing it as an objective truth (and with graph, you have to admit, it has to be true... or not).

So I'll take everything written on any Earsonics IEM there with a BIG grain of salt.

Trust your ears :)

Indeed, with the EM10 was a little bit strange, I even asked him about that.
To read about the EM64 being incoherent was another surprise.
With the midrange, there is something strange but in the same time I find the ES house sound somehow interesting.
I'm taking everything with a grain of salt, not just what's written about ES.

I can already tell you burn in is a MUST on Stark, bass settles down nicely after 12 hours...

Have you tried a few tips yet? Just curious what you settled on.

Yeah it’s been a bit problematic actually as it’s a shallow fit with my big ears aside from the biggest foams or my silicon custom tips nothing works well even my Flare Earfoams that usually do the trick

I can get a seal with Spiral Dots and Spiral Dots ++, also the Final Audio E tips. I am just trying to figure out which gives me the most comfort and and the best sound quality.

I can confirm after 3 dozen of hours of burn in, Stark does open up quite a bit bass settles and the mids have more room to breathe, now we’re talking although I think things will keep evolving still.

I’ve mine - stark- for about 2 months now and actually the burn in brought important changes in the listening experience .. as David Molliere said : the bass still very potent in the signature but the overblooming I noticed in the beginning got reduced and takes its rightful position .. it is quite unique now as you got that atomic -but ultra layered bass with impact- coming along with the rest without blurring.. very addictive once accustomed with .. never heard a legend X but description I read about it may indicates a global similarities ( very speculative) .. the low mid (300-1000) also got far more tidy and less overwhelming with complex tracks .. it remains a bass lover headphone (I underline « lover » once you’ve listened to your favorite double bass player or a RED HOT CHILI) with indeed a warm signature coming from the low (not necessary from the low mid itself) .. the others frequency are very detailed with a very nice vocal presence.. overall I find the headphone very detailed.. beautiful product if your in that type of signature.. separation seems very good but I let more experienced people give an assessment on this aspect .. on classical stuff or live the deep sub can reveal
Outstanding spatial cues on the place

I have given the Stark about a week of on and off listening and allowing the DD some time to season. The signature is beginning to change, for the better. The bass is still present in quantity but the quality has improved. It has become more controlled and with a greater snap. The treble extends nicely and provides a nice level of clarity. The mids are the one area I am still giving a little time to digest, although being BA they aren't going to change with time. There appears to be a slight pull back in the lower mids. Overall, the clarity and stage are above average. I need to listen to some more vocal music to critically listen to coherency.

I have finally settled on Final E tips as they provide me with the best comfort and SQ.

The coherency issues I could have noticed on some tracks (classical piano or vocal ) during the 100 first burn in hours , now are almost totally gone.. the intentional signature remained anyway but it is not a flaw :) I’m quite thrilled with it on jazz and classical stuffs .. beautiful tones and details
