^ Hmm, maybe you got a faulty pair? Or you're comparing to much higher end IEMs? Or you're an anti-basshead? I wouldn't say the 551 is muddy... No doubt they're less analytical and neutral than the Etys, tho.

The 551s don't benefit from the Fiio. Also, those things are kind of annoying. No volume control, no off switch. Glarb. But they do good things for my HD201s and K26Ps.

Yeah. Cause I'd be saving a crapload of money by getting the im616 instead of the im716. Comparatively, the im716 is $75 while the im616 is $45 (both shipped), a huge difference. Also, does the im616 need to be amped?

Alright! Thanks a lot! After reading some more, it seems like the amped im716 are the answer for me. The question is, what would be a good portable (very important) amp to drive the AL's for under $30?
