I'm looking for an amp for my incoming 650/cardas and the DIY amps have kind of cought my attention. Between the Dynalo or PPA, which would mate better with the 650's? I know it depends on what's in them, I'm looking at the ones that are currently in the FS forum right now if that helps anyone.

Also, are there any non-DIY amps in the $300 range I should be looking at instead?

I am looking for an amp that will quicken the 650's up and make them tight but I don't want to loose their musicality or their bass and midrange goodness.

In the past 3 months I have had spent lot of my time in this forum to find a good synergetic amp for HD650. As a result, the following amps have been suggested by many people

1) Single Power PPX3 (~$900)
1) RSA Raptor (~$1200)
2) M^3 ($400 maxxed)
3) PPA (no idea)
4) Gilmore Lite (~$400)
5) Eddie Current SS (~$500)
6) Heed Canamp (~$360)

To answer your question, M^3 could be your DIY amp in the ~300 price range. Non-DIY amp could be the Heed Canamp.

I've heard that you can get the Dynahi down to about $300 if you are careful in choosing your components. (assume you are doing the building)

This is a Chinese-made amp that is in the same league as the Dynalo:

Building your own Dynahi is pretty cheap. If you don't need a volume control, and use a lower voltage toroid (so as to produce less heat), and if you already have the tools, then you can probably do it for $200 or less.

To me with the Senn 650's it is all about synergy. The PPA matches well with the 650's as it brightens the sound a bit.

My favortie bang for the buck is the MG Head mkIII in OTL mode, a real sleeper combo for the Senn's.
