DX50 Bug List, Wish List Fix

Sep 17, 2013 at 3:13 AM Post #301 of 1,212
This has been bugging me a while now, I noticed when the DX50 transitions between tracks I can hear some popping in between the songs so the gapless playback isn't quite so gapless.  This happens between each track and gets annoying fast.  I have tested this on the original FW as well as the 1.1.5 firmware, factory reset and scanned the sd card multiple times but the same thing.
I am using UE18 CIEM and the popping is very noticeable, the DX100 doesn't do this at all.  Anyone else notice this on their DX50?

Not noticed it at all. Which Gapless setting are you using? If "Close" you are not using Gapless Playback. Change to 5 or 10 seconds and report back. I will check mine tonight to make sure.

Using closed, never changed the default settings.  Sounds like the amp is turned off and back similar to when you leave the DX50 sitting there with no songs playing, the system turns the amp off and on.

That explains the lack of gapless but still I have it closed on the DX100 as well but don't get those pops between songs.  They need to change that so the amp doesn't turn off and on between songs.

Maybe it would be better if you could send an email regarding that issue to iBasso so that they would know it is a problem for you.
For me I've chosen 5 seconds for gapless playback and do not experience the popping sound.

Yep if I set 5 or 10 secs it doesn't have any popping but closed has this popping which distracts from the experience.  Have workaround so can wait until they sort out the more important issues like:

Album is messed up
24/192 is slow mo
' in filenames or id3 tags is still broken
Scanning seems to be broken

The album handling is driving me crazy. I have lots of trance albums where the individual tracks have multiple/different artists, but the album artist tag is set correctly to the main artist. The DX50 shows every artist combination in the album view, so one album can be listed 20 times with different artists. I thought that the whole point of the album artist tag was to be able to avoid this kind of thing. Version is 1.1.5.

exactly the same for me as well, I browse via directory and select album this way

i'm sure a fix will be implemented soon though

When I browse by directory, the first track plays fine, then play stops. It won't skip to the next track. If I go back and browse the directory again and start with the second track, then it will play the whole album. This behavior is pretty consistent.

I think mine may have done that until I scanned the card

say I had an album of 14 mixed gapless tracks, it would play one then stop, id then exit and play the second - then it would stop again

after this it would then be able to play 1 & 2 - so kind of like adding a track at a time until the whole album can play

I assume you have gapless selected as 5?

It behaves correctly after setting gapless to 5. Thanks.
