DX340 iBasso developed Discret DAC, Easily replaceable batteries, Amp Modules! ***New firmware on 1st page. v1.04 local update. ***

I am way behind on this. I am still on the shipped firmware. LOL.

I had a few good hours to swap around amp cards today. The mod Amp12 is just another level. Everything from bass, treble, clarity, the bite of the notes, dynamics. The bass, phew. The Amp14 is great, it does need a bit of warm up. Running cold, it sounds compressed and congested. Once it opens up, solid nutube option. Amp15 is the smoothest and that's about it. Too bad we don't get to play with Amp11.

Next week, I will send the amp cards around the block for more impressions.
Any tips on changing the faceplates? I’m ready to tear my hair out. Finally got the screws out of the amp 14 faceplate but when putting on the new faceplate it doesn’t seem stable at all. I can’t seem to get a tight fit. The screws are so small. Anywhere I can send this to have someone install. I think I stripped the screws on the amp 13. Ugh

As in you can’t get it seated and flush into the 340?

I find trying to get the amp card in when the 340 is flat on the table to be very difficult. I place the 340 on the table with the amp module side facing up. Then gently find the right spot until the faceplate sits flush.

Sorry, I am outside right now. I have the amp card, but not the 340. Weird. I know. Here is a visual representation of what I mean.

Send pictures if you can. I just went through this Sunday and might be able to offer some advice. The screws that attach the faceplate to the card are incredibly small. Luckily the faceplate kit came with a bunch of extra screws so if you stripped one you should still have plenty to work with. Also one thing that threw me was that the screws that mount the card to the faceplate are philips and not torx like the screws used to attach the card/faceplate assembly to the chassis. I almost ruined a screw until I realized that was the case.

If you aren't able to get it done, I'm sure someone on the forum would be happy to help, myself included. Feel free to send me a PM.

This is what mine looks like with the new faceplate installed.

Upside down mate. Screw suppose to go in from the other side. Unscrew this and go in from the other side.

Sorry. I am outside now. This is what I can manage. Zoom in the screws and you will see what I mean.

Currently my favorite setup to get the Desktop mode on the go. I bought this power-bank since ages ago and just got the chance to actually use its DC out feature. For the cable, it’s a DX340 Custom DC cable made by Verus Audio. The connector to the DX340 is snug and fit’s perfectly.

For the sound profile, I find it to be very full bodied compared to the DC adapter and slightly darker background. DC adapter is way too noisy since my house electricity isn’t treated. The noise floor is much lower that’s ignorable for me.

I have been loving the macbeth with the DX340 as well since it drives it like a charm. Just pure delicious highs by this chain.

I also consider Shargeek Storm 2 to be an optimal solution because you don't have to use USB cables with a "built-in" 12V chip. Storm 2 has the ability to adjust the DC output voltage, which opens up additional possibilities in other usage scenarios.

You are so right! Good catch! Thank you.

What is the yellow cellophane material covering the PCB on yours?

Usb cable built in or built on the packs dont matter. What matter is how the main circuitry of the Pack is putting out the regulated voltage/current and accordance noises from doing that

The USB is simply a triggering ID to tell the packs, hey Dude, sell me a ticket to the 12V train line. Or it could also be, dude, today I want to take 20V train line.

Ofcourse, the train belong to the station and not the passenger 😉

Shargeek Storm 2 simply has those passengers as agents inside the train stations, and once summoned, they already know which train is to take. It is just same differences. However, you will be limiting yourself to only Shargeek, while a triggering USB 12V will carry you through endless of options from endless of power banks available

As I said previously, no powerbank are made the same, some will have more noises than others on top of many other practialities

@gwompki those are Kapton tapes. They are an electrical isolation materials and also acting as a duct tape with the exceptions that the glues peel away cleanly, so they never make a mess behind once removed. Hence graded for circuitry and pcb isolation. Why he uses it that way ? I dont know 😆

Zeppelin now got Amp14 with mounting plate right? How does it sounds? Suitable for my female vocals? Or shall I wait for Amp16?

It’s called polyimide tape. It’s heat resistant and electrical insulating. Meant for use in electronic devices. I put it on to prevent knocking off one of the little things on the board.

Also the Nutube module on the amp14 is held on by double sided tape. Mine is kaput and rattling when it’s inside the 340. The tape holds it down.

Yes. Someone just bought the Amp14 and plate today. After hearing mine. Instant buy. I am not excited about jantubes. Got to be a lot better than the Nanchaku for me to spark
Joy.

Amp14 only got 4.4 out , no 3.5 out right?

Correct. LO and PO 4.4. No 3.5. Get a ddhifi 4.4 to 3.5 adapter. Zeppelin sells it as well.

Thanks for the clarification, I'm not saying that Storm 2 is the best in terms of noise, because I don't know that.
However, Storm 2 does not close the way for dedicated USB C>3.5 1.35 DC cables and has an additional option of DC output with voltage regulation.
This may also be useful in other circumstances.

Thank you! I'm wondering if this tape in combination with some additional shielding tape might help with the Wi-Fi noise.

Despite the Wi-Fi noise I'm getting with AMP14, I really really like the sound. The Wi-Fi noise seems to settle down after the device is warmed up and is obviously non-existent if you have Wi-Fi disabled. I can rarely hear it once music is playing.

I'm cautiously hopeful for AMP16, but also my own experience with JAN6418 tubes has been pretty meh over the years.
