A great big thanks to @mattclarke18 for helping me solve the random hissing problem by getting me the right settings to reflash the latest firmware via QFIL.
Before that playback would start to hiss once I paused and resumed playback and that would happen if I did that once per boot. The hiss never went away until I rebooted the player and it would again happen upon pause and resume.
Now it is dead silent.

Thanks to him I also realized why my DSD512 files were stuttering on my DX340, my Micro SD card was the problem!
I had not formatted the card in the DX340 itself, it contained the old directory from my DX320 and somehow that was causing DSD512 files to stutter. Maybe there were some incompatible hidden files that rendered the DX340 unable to properly decode DSD512 files.

I was first reluctant to format the micro SD card too since I have like 1.3TB of music on there already and it would take several hours to recopy everything to it from PC.
A simple fix to the problem but it caused me annoyance and headache for weeks!!!

I feel like such a donkey....

Now my DX340 is perfect without issues, I can't wait until my LPSU gets here.
Glad I was able to help. Formatting in device puts special file system on card which is why best practice is to format card in device you are going to use it in and use it in that device only.

For all those that want to know how to flash FW to DX340 here it is. I will post in other thread as well. My unit was running on part old FW and part new. I have noticed better SQ now that it is flashed right. I recommend using this method over any OTA/local updates. Yes you loose your data in internal memory but you have less chance of annoying glitches showing up that you may think are bugs but aren't. My charging issue is FINALLY fixed.

I added this guide to Root post in other thread because I can't double post.

IF you just got the DX340 and it does NOT sound like what the majority of people on here say it does do the flash before returning/selling. It may not have been flashed right at factory. Flashing wrong will really mess up SQ and I experienced this first hand.

Industrial MicroSD cards are the way to go if you want best SQ and best reliability. You have Micron and I have Swissbit. You should format in DX340 for best experience and for special file system that is written to card.

Sandisk Ultra 1.5TB, I also used a Sandisk Extreme 1TB card for the longest time for my DAPs.

Got mine up and running this morning. Sounding great so far with my Thieaudio Prestige LTD. Look forward to putting this throu it's paces.

Great service from Bloom Audio. What a great bunch of folks.

Two questions for you fine folks.
1) I don't believe I the unit is sitting fully in the case. The top of the case overlaps with the top of the screen a bit which makes it difficult to access the quick settings menu by dragging down from top of the screen. Anyone else have this issue? I'm definitely interested in a tpu case when one becomes available.

2) Do I understand correctly that these come with a screen protector pre-installed? I don't see one on there but looks like others have indicated theirs came with one pre-installed. I find the screen protector install process maddening lol.

Time to sell some more stuff! If anyone is interested in a LP W2 Ultra dongle LMK.

Platlab Phantasy class A really sound darn good when paired with DX340 lineout.
If Amp16 is of this type of sound, I would buy it on the spot!

Push the DAP in the case down. I had trouble with the menu expanding, but I noticed that when you touch the screen in the place of the clock, the menu expands quite well. TPU case is also on my list of expectations.

Hello, anyone heard the ibasso DX 340 with pmg apx SE?

That’s my current go-to pairing. It’s fantastic. The APX SE is so easy to drive, so the DX340 drives it so easily. I can have it in low gain, but usually put it to medium and lower the volume pot just a little. I do think it’s a bit more dynamic doing so.

I can't seem to push it in any further unfortunately. Oh well, only a minor inconvenience.

If on older FW (that has charging issues) do the FLASH and not OTA. Yes scree protector comes installed already and makes for tight fit into case. The bubbles I had in bottom corners are now gone.

For those of you having any strange issues like DSD512's stuttering etc I now know how to flash FW to DX340 correctly. I need to do some testing before posting guide. Do NOT use my past guide. It will not work. I would suggest this method over OTA/Local FW updates as this makes your DAP software-wise factory new with no artifacts of older FW versions which can cause issues. Doing a flash should be done before contacting Paul for support as this will most likely fix your problem.
Many have tried to measure burn-in effects and there's never anything to show apart from the first few minutes until the electronics warm up. Many have taken this and expanded it to hours and days.

The burden of proof lies with those who make the claim.

I join these thanks @mattclarke18. The randomly appearing hiss in the left channel disappeared since flashing the QFIL method (both in player mode and USB DAC).

Details of the QFIL method are e.g. here:
https://www.head-fi.org/threads/dx3...-page-v1-01-local-update.974099/post-18568802

The DX340 now has an absolutely black background.

Before, I also heard a very quiet hiss (in both channels), minimal, but still.
Now, (after about 7-8 hours of playback also in USB DAC mode, with battery power, from the wall, with or without DC) the DX340 is absolutely interference-free.

I will just add that the interference also occurred before the update to DX340FW-ota-v1.01.

For those of you who have something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8MXPRDB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Or

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CS2MD9FP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

You can use this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGFC77M6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

To do DC 12V In/Super Gain on USB C port, not A. Also has 12V car aux out which I have a cord coming tomorrow. I bought the above to use with powerbank and have tested and works perfect. NO hiss or NOISE. $34 (about 24 hrs of battery per charge for 12VDC SG). Now have 12 V DC In on the go :) :) :) :)

No hiss or noise!!! Transportable but not portable solution. This is an alternative to a LPSU. EcoRiver is just running off batteries, no AC/DC inverter on which would create lots of noise. Pitch black background so finally rid of the power grid noise that was messing with SQ. Reason I wanted to try this is I already had the EcoRiver to be used when there are power outages so now will be used for the DX340 instead of collecting dust. This is a cheaper and more useful alternative to LPSU as you have for emergencies etc.

Is it really necessary to spend $300 on LPSU when you have something that allows power direct from batteries? FYI I can use this for 100 hours before needing to charge EcoRiver. I can take from my living room to bedroom etc easily.

Here is IMG FW for older FW for DX340:
