DX340 iBasso developed Discret DAC, Easily replaceable batteries, Amp Modules! ***New firmware on 1st page. v1.03 local update. AMP16 NOS Tube amp. Review on the 1st page! 4/6/25
Yes. Awesome Iem. Perfect all rounder. Very customizable with tips and cables. Highly recommend!!!!!
I agree everything must serve a purpose and be used regularly. With Dx340 I will never use Dx260 again. Now with some burn in dx340 is a huge upgrade to Dx260.
It's the nuances. The way it renders. D16 (mine is modified with the blackgate caps) takes that natural another step further. You don't feel it trying. It's just there. If I can only keep one. I will choose the 340 due to it being more convenient. I get to keep both, so I will for now.
The linear power supply works. Richer, thicker, bass hits harder. If you get a chance to slap on the PB5. You might like it even more. Bass hits harder, thicker, more space, and notes get edgier. Great for those who find the 340 too smooth.
Totally agreed!!! And yes, the D16 will always remind you of why and how you loved it in the first place. It is just that amazing. Especially if feeding with COAX
The edgier texture and slam from the 340 can be achieved with going all out such as
DC in with LPSU, External Amp such as PB5 or desktop amp.
Eventhough it is no longer portable. The textures and edges will becomes music and not just noises, especially EDM. Most importantly is that you want to use UAPP for those
I know I will want the D17 when it come out. Though, I dont know what kinda magic Ibasso will pull either. The multibit R2R has it physical limitations that effects the overall sound quality.
1 example is that when using resistors to achieve bit info, given the same nominal values. Their properties can change due to temperatures, due to purities...tolerances...However, there are 2 ways to overcome this.
1/ using silicon chips for R2R stages
2/ using FPGA, which Ibasso has already excel
Talk about this, we should make a thread for that D17 lol
I am not using burn in cable. Listening to music at reasonable volume. The sound has already improved. I can use high gain and bass is now good. Super gain still sounds best. No question this is one of the best DAPs available. Lots of micro details, large halograohic stage with excellent imaging. Female vocals are best I have heard. You feel like you are there live with performers. It's the most engaging DAP I have heard. I could go on lol. Using Neutron with local play from Swissbit card.
Sounds like you're getting a front-row seat to every track! Micro details, holographic stage, and killer female vocals? This DAP’s got some serious magic going on—I'm almost tempted to grab one myself!
I was gonna re-buy a Anni 2023 but I stumbled upon the Campfire Audio Astroliths instead.
These are probably the best IEMs Campfire Audio has released to date, excellent bass and very good upper treble extension. You hear micro and macro details.
There is definitely excellent bass response with this pairing. Eartips I'm using at the moment are Spiral Dot Pro and Divinus Velver Wide Bore, the latter gives the biggest soundstage.
The Anni 2023 is still an excellent IEM as I used to drive them with my DX320/DX320X and modded AMP12 card. They will benefit more from the DX340 especially when you are on Super Gain and using a LPSU.

With super gain it will drive anything. I am using an iem that I could use low gain no problem but super gain really allows the full potential to be unleashed.

Desktop mode on 340 works seamlessly. The Mode once flipped to on, remains passively on even when no DC voltage detected. It just automatically switched back to battery mode with lower voltage which results in a bit of drops in loudness.
Once DC is plugged in, it switches up immediately. There is a bit of Stall dueto the transistors switching. But it is super fast. A lot faster than DMP Z1 switching from batteries to Desktop mode.
I love this conveniences
Do note that out of the box, this feature is off by default. Once plugged in, you gotta switch it on
The Lunar New Year is approaching and I won't have much time to read the forums. Here is a thought I would like to share before I disappear.
If you are new to the whole 1 bit dac thing. Cayin N7, D16, or the 340. These are line out monsters born to feed portable amps. It doesn't have to be the PB5 or C9ii. One of those little amps is like having an amp card. Amps cards are great and disappear into the player. But there is a world of amps out there for you to play with.
