How are you finding the IE900/DX340 synergy? Is it a good pairing, and does the IE900 scale well when using this DAP over other, nominally inferior ones? Thanks

It sounds very good, I was using then on a FiiO M33 previously - sounded good too - but this is better, more resolving certainly, there’s just MORE of everything, I think the better HW brings the best out of them with quality files.

Thanks @twister6, makes sense. But isn't this for most part impedance (mis-)matching related? It has been > 30 years since I had my last physics lesson (yes, I am getting old). But if I remember correctly, input impedance (of an IEM/HP in this case) should ideally be > 10 times higher than output impedance of the amplifier. Otherwise you could see the voltage drop/swing. The VE10s have an input impedance of only 8 Ohms; I do not expect the DX340 AMP15 to be specced lower than the required 0.8 Ohm (cannot find this number, though). Was surprised to see similar issues mentioned with Campfire Audio Clara (on my shortlist), as these have an input impedance of 13.3 Ohms.

Btw not saying it is not/cannot be cross-over related.

I think in the instance of the Clara, it’s due to the sensitivity as mentioned previously with a lot of the campfire audio IEM‘s and then also could be the crossover as well, but definitely the sensitivity. I have some of the waterfall hiss with the AK CA1000T in the Clara as well. The Clara are genuinely so sensitive that I can listen on low gain tube mode in the low single digits and it’s loud enough even level 1.

I see that you are trying hard to fall in love/not love DX340. Since the both times you auditioned it you found issues, probably its not for you no need to over analyze. If flat tuning is not your cup of tea and if you still want to give dx340 a chance, have to wait for amp16 otherwise look elsewhere for your upgrade.

I accidentally pulled out the dust cover for the 12v port. They provided replacements so clearly the cover is meant to be reinserted but for the life of me I cannot get it back on. Is there a trick I’m missing?

Yep, exactly! It’s either on my desk, in a pocket with nothing else in there, or it’s in my cross-body bag in its own space, so I’m good.

I tried Susvara on the DX340 for fun. Not really a surprise but it doesn't do a good job with it lol.

I'll email Bloom about the DAC gain issue since toggling it between low high doesn't change the volume.
