This makes me wonder ..what if you root the 340 , is there a eay to bypass Roon certificate checking ?
Requested IMG FW for DX340 from Paul but he has not sent me link yet. Maybe you can ask him for it and he will give it to you. I got the impression that he was not happy with my guides which I am revising and will be posting updated ones this week. The DX180 guide should work with the DX340 as they both are same Android version. If you/someone could give me a list of enabled modules on the DX340 I can give better list of ones that can be disabled before my DX180 is sold. Yes I am selling 2 DAPs and will likely get a DX340. Then will compare DX340 and DX260 and decide if I want to keep the DX260. If all 3 sold the DX340 will only cost me $600. With ADB App Control app the console command is "adb shell pm list packages -e" and just copy and paste and post or PM me.

Thank you! I will post list that can be disabled. So far they match the DX180 which means my 180 guide will work on DX340. I just uploaded a revised guide today.

Here are all the modules on the DX340 that can be disabled. Lots of bloatwares. Keep in mind I do not have a DX340 but have a DX180. With exception on one module they are the exact same on both. The 1st time setup module is different on each model. You should be able to cut 300+MB RAM use and these not needed modules consuming resources in the background. If one buys Nuetron without going through Play all the Play services can be disabled which would save resources. Neutron will work once license is cached with Google Play itself disabled. Someone will have to test this with UAP. I would love to know if the sound is changed after all these have been disabled on 340. My DX180 guide will work with the DX340, I am 99.999% sure. I have some additional stuff you need to do. Just about all can be done without Root. The turning off Sensors will have to be turned off after each reboot. On DX320/260 it will stay off once turned off. I have attached the latest guide to this post. I will post in my thread once someone with a DX340 tests and lets me know all is good so I know 100%. Disabling these will not brick your DAP. I learned which ones mess things up the hard way when I was making the guide last year.

If you run into any issues boot into Recovery mode and do factory reset. This is very unlikely as all these are disabled on my DX180 and all works except BT which I disabled because I do not use BT with a DAP.

Paul is likely too busy and didnt get from his team yet. I have sent you message regarding the packages.
Yes, we are extremely busy and will be closing for 2 weeks for the Chinese New Year. It doesn't bother me at all if someone modifies software. It is all good. And the 665 Tool can bring a current DX back to stock form and you can go from there. :^).

iBasso Stay updated on iBasso at their sponsor profile on Head-Fi.

AFAIK, it's not Android downsampling, as we have a system wide bypass for that. It's Roon refusing to use higher samplerates on non certified devices. (For those interested, even in Termux playback at 192kHz is possible.)

Android’s standard driver only supports 48, no matter what an attached DAC supports, that’s why Roon downsamples.

That is not the case with an iPhone

That is great Paul. After your holiday and when you have time I look forward to getting the IMG FW links for DX180 (recent FW update) and DX340 so I can update my thread with them. You are correct the 660 Tool is so valuable. I never will do a FW update OTA or from SD card. Must be 660 Tool.

Any plans to release a R2R based DAP in the future based on your D17 that is yet to be released? I don't want to buy a DX340 only to find out there will be a DX360 with D17. I am sure you know that being able to customize and root iBasso DAPs is a huge plus you have over all the competition.

D16 was released 1 year before dx340. I would say that even if D17 was to be released...a DAP based on R2R front similarly would be 1 year away.

Given that the D16 was released about 1-1/2 years after the Dx320 (X). I would say that the new flagship DAP will be about 2 years away 😅😅 the earliest....given that D17 get to be finalized at Q4 of 2025 which is ....a long stretch.

Though, D16 is very different to D17...the D17 isnt a successor of D16...but another brother in the cooking

One thing i know for sure is that waiting game sucks!!! Even if only 6 months 😆

I am looking to buy just one flagship DAP. I don't need 2, haha. Even selling my DX180 because I rarely use it and DX260 is an upgrade to it. Hate selling and loosing money. Do you still use your other DAPs since you got the DX340? IBasso is making such a good product that is built to last especially being able to replace battery its time to buy one and be set for many years. IF its going to be 2+ years then it is not as big of a deal. Maybe the 340MaxTI will have D17 R2R DAC vs D16. Meanwhile I will continue to enjoy the DX260.

For now, 340 takes the spot lights, so is PB5 and D16 for desktop purposes :).

The 340 has amazing synergies with IER Z1R and MDR Z1R

Your 320s are getting lonely then. I am looking forward to you optimizing your 340 and reporting back on any difference in sound after it's done.
